As far as I'm aware, there's no such thing as a loan recall deadline other than the outright January transfer deadline, but clubs can agree their own recall deadline between themselves.

I still don’t believe we played progressive football this season whatsoever. We tried to on the opening day and got battered. We tried to on the second game of the season and got battered. We then weaned off it bit by bit throughout the season, but even after the opening ‘progressive’ five games we were still approximately the third or fourth longest ball team in the league. Now we’re just totally inept.
yeah right.....they obviously don't want to play for blooms, .i am sorry for ever criticising GA , he was amazing when you look at what ee now have in place, clubs wanted to send their players to us for development, God we have gone so backwards. Also we have GA to thank for Kone...all his hard work .

Here’s wild speculation. Call me crazy but hear me out….
Potts going to Watford (if he does) doesn’t reflect badly on the club or Blooms, but rather the opposite.
We become a club that gives there youngsters a chance and when they prove they are capable at league one level, they send us another player - let’s call him Gideon - and then give the first loanee a chance to prove himself for half a season at the next level up - The championship - which just so happens to only be one step below the parent clubs level.
Its almost the dream scenario for a Premier league club loaning its players out. Crazy, huh?
Although I would worry short term about how we would play without Potts (however bad we are at the moment we were far worse before Christmas when he was injured) there may be positives longer term.
For whatever reason, the strategy this season seemed to revolve around some quality (on paper) loanees interlinking seamlessly with a solid, experienced base of players.
It clearly hasn’t worked and there just maybe merit in returning to a system where we primarily use ‘our’ players supplemented as required by the odd loanee. (As others have pointed out - what are the benefits in developing lots of other teams young players?).
The downside to that is that the midst of a relegation battle isn’t exactly ideal to throw inexperienced development players into.
We need solid midfielders who can hold their nerve. Potts is great but in this situation ( a relegation battle ) I’d say we need Scowen and perhaps move Leahy in with him to be more solid, with JJ at left back. If Potts were to leave we become desperately short in midfield. If we can get a left back that would free Leahy. We took having Gape and Thompson in the squad for granted for so long. Maybe we need them back.
I really dislike loan players for exactly this reason. We should specialise is signing rejects and letting them prove everybody wrong. And ultra direct football. And leather boots. Please come back Gareth.
It would be a strange move for Potts to go to Watford. I saw Watford play Southampton on Sunday & I would think most of the time Potts would stand there watching the ball constantly go over his head. Now if it were Southampton considering him that would be a different matter……
That would be the question mark over this move. At Wycombe, he can get a good amount of minutes and on current form is one of the first names on the starting XI. Whereas going to Watford, who are a few points off the play-offs and looking to push on, want to take on someone un-tested at a Championship/Premier League level. This game time will reduce but the quality of opposition will be a step higher. The only deciding prospect could be if money is involved......
The loan market is full of risks and I think we were ALL aware of this during our transfer window. 3 out of 5 have been recalled - 2 of them have signed elsewhere and there is nothing to stop this happening to the rest of them (that we signed in the summer). If Potts does move on, one very good prospect for West Ham's future leaves and our average age of the squad is starting to look much older than in previous years. If we are going to sign anymore, we need youth and energy rather than journeymen
Having thought about this further, West Ham will have been watching him play for us and may not be happy with our current style of play. He has had a lot of minutes on the pitch but can he really learn any more in a relegation battle.
Going to a club like Watford he will have more and better qualified coaches and he would be surrounded by a much higher quality of player including current internationals. Having seen their tv game on Sunday against Southampton, the standard and style of play was on totally different level to ours.

I have a friend who is involved with the Palace U21s, and he said Philips left because he/Palace were pissed off about him not getting the agreed playing time. Wasn't Bloomfield's decision.
Totally agree...sit on the bench for a successful team or game time in a professional side (not your employer) struggling to avoid the drop. Which one builds character and experience?
Well lets just look at West Ham's past and try and find a situation that they have found themselves in. While in the Premier League, they have (mainly) been a mid to lower league side that has had some nervous moments. If that's what is going to happen here then it'll set himself nicely for the future!

If this is true then it is a disaster for the club, that would mean we have lost four of our original five loan players within about two weeks.

We seem to be doing a major cost reduction exercise and maybe at exactly the wrong time.

Better to stand there watching the ball fly over your head in the Championship than in League One, I suppose.
