They knocked it down I think. The away ‘end’ used to be a cage at the end of the main stand. It used to get quite testy and there was another group of singers near there as well as the current terrace.
When Adams Park was first built in 1990 it consisted of the main stand (the stand, the players come out from) and three covered terraces. The only one of these three still in its original form is the valley end Home Terrace. Where the away end is now was an identical terrace, and where the Frank Adams stand is was a terrace of the same depth. In other words, there was only seating on one side of the ground.
The ground was cleverly built to allow for easy expansion. In 1996, six years after the ground opened, and with the club, by then two divisions higher than when it moved in ,the Frank Adams stand was built.this work was done between May and September 1996
as far as I know, they took the roof off of the terrace, and then built the executive boxes and stand over the top ,and installing seats on the terrace to create the family stand If my memory serves me correct, it was ready for a league cup tie against Reading in September 1996, and that was certainly the first time I sat in that stand before getting a season ticket there from the following season
They did something similar with what is now the away end, i.e. removing the roof and doubling the size and adding seats this if I remember rightly happened roundabout 2000 or 2001 and again the work was completed in the course of a few weeks over the summer
regarding away support, certainly when the ground opened the away supporters, had one end of what was known as the side Woodlands Terrace. This was approximately one third of the length of the terrace and was fenced off from the rest of it. This area was closest to what is now the away end
this seemed to serve a purpose when we were in the Vauxhall conference (now known as the National League,) but as we moved up into the football league, and the away support became larger, and sometimes ill behaved a decision was taken to put the away supporters in the end they are in now. The catalyst for this was if I remember correctly the game against Swansea in what is now known as the Bristol Street, motors cup in March 1994.when the Swansea supporters, tried to break down the rather flimsy barrier on the Woodlands Terrace to try and get at the Home supporters. So the away supporters ended up in the current end which at the time was terraced but eventually became seated. I may have some of that information wrong as my memory may play tricks but that is fundamentally the story of how our stadium has evolved
Can't believe that was nearly 31 years ago! God I'm old. What a great night that was, possibly one of the best nights, certainly in my top five. I remember radio 5 announcing that we had more fans in attendance that night than Wimbledon did at home. 😋
Thanks for posting @LeedsBlue it was proper packed on the terrace that night.
Reminds what a great player Jason Cousins was. Apart from Martin Taylor I would put Paul Hyde as my favourite keeper and how good were Dave Carroll, my favourite Wycombe player of all time, and Steve Guppy. What I would give for a left winger with a left foot now!!!
I’ve let’s wanted to go to Valley Parade, might go and find the old Park Avenue ground as well. The National media museum in Bradford has a wonderful football archive as well. Feels like a two day trip up coming. When is the fixture please?

I'm curious, is the current family stand literally the old terrace with seats on? Or did they demolish and rebuild the whole thing?
Oh I get you my apologies. Yes it certainly was. I used to stand on the back terrace on the halfway line brilliant atmosphere

AP did really used to have a cracking atmosphere.

If the singing spread to the Hillbottom Road end you knew you had an atmosphere.
Boston at home that first season there. What an atmosphere that night
Terrace is now open for this fixture.
@our_frank the exact same Tuesday night the year before felt as rammed as it has ever been... (albeit not a cup tie)

Blackpool, Bradford and Peterborough make the semis.
Is the Wednesday game a ‘must win’?
Considering our crafty plan of forgoing the league to concentrate on this cup...yes!

Great times and arguably the best team we have ever had.
If we get knocked out tonight, do you think the B&B FA might let us back into the Cup?
About an hour or so until the draw. Bradford at home please.
You’ve put the mockers on that then !!!
I said 'please' so we should be ok
Here is my order:
Bradford at home please
Bradford away please
Blackpool at home please
Peterborough away
Peterborough home
Blackpool away
On the basis of likelihood of reaching Wembley and ease of being able to see the game in person.
We have Bradford away…
not a bad draw tbf...league below us
If we have to play someone away, I'd rather it was Bradford.
Should be on the telly - the semis usually are
Just go to the game @flymofrank we need as many supporters there as we can get.
Bradford-Us
Blackpool-Peterborough
Fair enough
I expect Bradford fans weee hoping for us at home, so they have their wish.
Were not weee
Bradford midweek? Slightly easier said than done...
