Unpopular opinion but I really like Alex Scott as a presenter. But she put in the work. She did a degree in broadcasting, did minor gigs, did journalism work and it shows. She’s confident and intelligent and prepared. I would imagine our very own highly respect broadcaster also did sports reporting for the Wirral Weekly or whatever before becoming a global megastar. So many of these new pundits regardless of gender don’t appear to have done the hard bit.
I only said that as she seems to get a lot of negative critiques. But maybe that’s because of noise makes such as Barton getting heard louder than those praising her.
In all fairness we are spoilt for top quality female sports journalists. My personal favourite Kelly Cates does not get the exposure she deserves. A great broadcaster.
Joey Barton obviously has decided a job in football is not for him...GB News presenter and Mail columnist when Lord Nigel of Beer, Fags and Racism leaves to to take over the Tories.
Oh Joey.....there are a couple of things you could have said this morning about Eni Aluko that would have slightly bolstered your position but saying Gary Neville sniffs bicycle seats wasn't one of them. And comparing Union Berlin to the Nazis....well.
Hopefully Sunderland Newcastle will keep him quiet for a bit.
The campaign (Rainbow Laces) still needed a football figurehead to help it cut through. Mallon put in a call to then QPR midfielder Joey Barton, who had appeared in a TV documentary about homophobia in football earlier that year and was being thought of as "the king of Twitter". Suddenly, the strategy seemed even stronger.
Nothing has ever been said directly to me, but I was made aware of a thread on a football chat room, soon after I signed the government charter, where people were speculating about whether I was gay or not.
Also, until recently, the third most popular search on my name on Google was "Matt Bloomfield gay".
I’d add to that certain match commentaries, especially if motormouth Jamie Carragher is involved (which he usually is) and if the Co-commentator can’t say “opportunity” (eg the guy at Fleetwood this afternoon).
His recent comments in the last few hours about trans people means he's never working anywhere. Genuinely surprising that Mr Rainbow Laces has a lot of venom for the T part of LGBT.
If the Cup gate receipts in France work like ours then the team from Martinique will have earned more in one game than they probably have the last two seasons.

As Roger Mellie said in an old edition of Viz
'When you're doing panto with Leslie Grantham and the audience shout Behind You, you fucking well turn around and look'
I'm sorry Shev....but you posted between my two posts which makes them slightly harder to understand.
I'm going to have to empty you and put you away.
Ah, my apologies too, @Kim_il_Swan - getting in the middle of a punchline quite naturally results in the danger of a mere punch only!

Is that an unpopular opinion? She's really good.
Yes I'd totally agree with that as well

Don't worry Joey will soon be cancelled the way the people who go on TV to say they are going to be cancelled get cancelled.
Joey was the first footballer to wear rainbow laces.
He's a complicated man.
Deranged is probably the correct term.

Apologies to both Barton fans on here for the upset.
Pretty sure Matt Bloomfield was, he was also the first player to sign up to some kind of anti-homophobia in football campaign.
I generally try and avoid a lot of the pre game, mid game and post game punditry.
I just like to watch the games. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion!

However...
(Bloomfield) became the first professional player to sign a government charter for action against homophobia and transgender abuse in 2011.

Joey Barton was an awful human being as a player, an awful human being as a manager and a awful human being as an ex manager , there is a pattern.
Poxford getting battered at Coventry

I don't bother with a lot of the punditry but the sex of the gobshites involved has no bearing on my decision.
Our old friend Karl Robinson has been sent to the stands 15 minutes into his first game at Salford.

Great win for Maidstone
Yes, I’m a very proud Old Maidstonian tonight.
If those entry rules applied here I wonder how many fans Port Stanley would take to Carlisle?
Villa's win v Boro yesterday was their first in the FA Cup since beating us 8 years ago
