Although they’re solidly mid-table (and actually would go above us if they won all their games in hand) they’d taken a whopping 5 points from the last 8 games.
I always think that Pompey must have a serious budget given their fanbase, and so would be expecting to challenge for promotion, but then I remember they were also looking to sign Lewis Wing at one point but apparently couldn’t afford him, which makes you wonder…
Whilst Portsmouth are owned by a very wealthy owner he is rather conservative with his spending. The Cowley's don't have a top budget by any means with much of the available cash spent keeping the stadium within Football League rules. Whilst I hope this doesn't happen for a few decades, they would be an excellent fit to lead us one day.
Not sure they were complaining about the budget when they won 4 on the bounce at the start of the season, if they couldn't afford Wing it was probably because they'd already spent their budget, and if the owner is shy to pump more in it might be related to scmp (potentially 5 X ours) or the poor performances ever since they ended up down here rather a long time ago now. Consensus seems to be they're very nice chaps but no good at all when they hit a bad run or players don't agree with them. They did a decent job at Lincoln but that was a while ago now. Likely Pompey are high enough profile that they'll get another go somewhere.
Agree Pompey we're awful, The Cowley brothers previously favoured direct football, work rate and physicality at there previous clubs, But watching them attempting to play out from the back, and constantly concede cheap possession, was quite bewildering. I was away for the Burton game, but Pompey along with Forest Green are the worst two sides, I've seen this year.
A return of 9 goals in 20 games this season would suggest he's got himself a better deal elsewhere. Forest Green would not let a player go scoring nearly every other game.
Regarding the Cowleys, 'Close Quarters' described them as awful characters, I think possibly including a quote from Dobbo? I had a good impression of them up to that point, but now would not want them near the club.
Oh god. He's going to change his name to Connor Wycombe and join us as a publicity stunt and a cheap replacement for (whichever good player leaves this month)

Shouldn’t have left Lincoln for Huddersfield at the time they did, in my opinion
Thought they were the worst side I've seen at AP this season
They definitely weren't as bad as Burton on the opening day

Forest Green have just released Connor Wickham I see. No real surprise to anyone who witnessed his performance against us down there.
He could barely move

He scored a great goal in the FA Cup!!
Lives in Beaconsfield I think. His missus is always flogging stuff on Facebook 😂
Intrigued as to whether ex Forest Green players maintain their strict vegan diet or get back on the burgers when they leave.
Had a quick read around the net, and as expected they're only "vegan" when they're actually on club premises - straight from a club official's quote.
Otherwise they'd seriously be limiting their playing options insisting on vegans only wouldn't they!
Interesting, thanks @Malone
They apparently a few years ago arranged £200 worth of fish and chip meals from some local company, who taxied them to their bus.
And then ran to the papers ratting them out!
Bizarre.

If he's as successful as the last player labelled a publicity stunt we'll be ok!
If he turns up High he might be useful
