WWFC greatest XI (with a twist)

A tricky one finding players good enough for a greatest XI but only having spent a short time at the club.
As an additional rule, no loan players, only players who have been permanent signings.

  • Having spent way longer than I should have on this, and only including players I have seen play myself...

    GK Lynch

    LWB Sandell

    CB Hause
    CB El-Abd
    CB Charles

    RWB Ulhenbeek

    CM Mousinho

    AM Ibe
    AM Torres
    AM Currie

    FW Essandoh

I'm pretty sure (I hope!) that they never played together. Very interesting challenge!

  • GK Richardson

    RB Lawrence
    CB Hause
    CB Bennett
    LB Reilly

    RW Ibe
    CM Doherty
    CM Murphy
    LW Guppy

    CF Rammell
    CF Akinfenwa

Anyone fancy playing centre defence against them two?

  • Murphy wasn't too shabby in the air either.

  • Incidentally, Alan Bennett is still playing for Cork City. He made his first appearance for them as an 18 year old twenty years ago.

After having two previous efforts chalked off for having players that had played a handful of games together, here's my XI that hopefully has avoided too many duds making up the numbers

    Nikki Bull 10-12

    Terry Howard 95-96
    Mike Williamson 04-09
    John Delaney 69-73
    Matt Lawrence 96, 98-00

    Len Worley 54-69
    Noel Ashford 86-87
    Peter Murphy 13-14
    Joel Grant 11-13

    Andy Rammell 00-03
    Adebayo Akinfenwa 15-20

I had tried to shoehorn in a partnership of McGleish and the Beast, but Rambo and the Beast would terrify most centre backs.

  • Nikki Bull and Joel Grant played together, did they not?

Yes of course, I'd noticed that before then forgot to put a replacement in!
