Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
Didn’t like the line up before the match but thought they did well.
wing backs were very high today, which was great to see.
on another day we win that 3 or 4 nil!
Onto Reading

Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
I was massively against 5 at the back to start with, but I actually think it would be a mistake to drop it now. We look incredibly solid defensively, and the players seem to be gradually getting better at playing the system. There were some lovely moves and incisive attacking play tonight and in the final 30 mins v Lincoln. If Udoh returns from injury soon then I think it would be more effective with him up front alongside/behind Kone
Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
I understand why the players will get the blame tonight to an extent - 32 shots, no goals, I get it. Kone missing 3 sitters etc - I get it, you can't blame the manager for not putting the ball in the net.
But the bigger picture is Dodds is a massive issue. Came in saying he wouldn't change or even tweak much in a side doing so well. He's now wedded to a back 5, with defensive wing backs, at home to the divisions dross. It's a total world away from the 4-2-3-1 that took the league by storm for months.
In fairness (and to illustrate i dont have any personal axe to grind here), Bloomfield did the exact same initially when he came in, saying he wouldn't change what worked well, then pretty much ripped the whole thing up. It's the second consecutive time it's happened and it's crazy. Got away with it on Saturday but not tonight against the league's worst team.
I said when MB left that Rice (and subsequently Dodds) would be judged on the remainder of the season and the end outcome. I only see it playing out one way looking at our run in (playoff position then lose) and both will feel the heat if things play out like this.
Just honestly confused and puzzled at another manager saying he won't change much then we see a total new approach and a back 5 which our players don't look suited or comfortable in. It's total self destruction.

Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lowrys out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Kone kept us warm, covering
Dodds in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried 0-0s.
Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
I've never seen a Wycombe game like it though. 30 shots without scoring is unheard of
Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
Maybe, just maybe, it’s a good thing we are playing better sides from here on in. We struggle so much h to break down the bottom teams . Here’s hoping.
Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
Lowry’s the one. We just need to work out a way to get him in the team.
Is Bez injured? I missed that.

Re: Match Day Thread: Shrewsbury
Lowry was excellent tonight. Some of his passing was sublime, particularly that one touch ball for Gmac's chance.
