Re: Rumour Mill
Get what you’re saying. I’m also not a huge fan of the way the story is being told and broadcast but…Wrexham was on its backside before they came in and that area of North Wales always provided a huge potential catchment to the person(s) who could get it right (I.e spend a lot) at the football club. So I don’t decry their fans a little bullishness. And as is the way with group identities, there will always be a section that will play up to the label bestowed upon them, even if those labels are to some extent unfair, generalised, or stubbornly persistent. See Millwall (no one likes us), ‘dirty Leeds’, and even some god awful Franchise customers play up on ‘being the Franchise’. Yuk.
Judging by some of the comments on FB groups, we’re only a few more signings and a promotion away from a section of our fanbase becoming disgustingly ‘noveau riche’, and not in an ironic sense.
Re: Rumour Mill
I can’t get my head around a player signing for a club without a manager.
I mean you could get Pep but you might get the Cowleys or Derek Adams.
I may be hopelessly naive and old fashioned but don’t you need to know who you’ll be working with and whether they rate you as a player?
Re: Rumour Mill
I don't dislike Wrexham for spending money - I dislike them for packaging it as "romance" as if they are a plucky bunch of part-time no-hopers just up from the mines, somehow overcoming the odds.
Oh, and also because I find Ryan Reynolds painfully phony and I am genuinely amazed at how many people think he is a sincere, stand-up bloke.
Wrexham's actual fans seem decent - as an ex-pat I can only go off their forum, but it generally seems balanced.
Re: Rumour Mill
Gareth had a much smaller squad and sometimes didn't even have enough to fill the bench so the team generally picked itself resulting in less players getting upset not starting. Blooms had a much larger squad of mainly better player, so it must have been much more difficult to keep everyone happy especially those that weren't playing. Some of the newer players may not have had the same respect for Blooms as they would have for Gareth.
At a higher level, I think that is a reason why Chelsea have generally underperformed due to their massive squad of multi million pound signings with corresponding high egos.
Re: Squad strength - January 2025 transfer window
Men vs boys. As it often was in those days.
Re: Man of the Match - Mansfield (A)
There's a lot of long dormant accounts suddenly springing to life.
Re: Today...
...in 2018 (seven years ago) Matt Bloomfield played 67 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers in a 3-2 League Two win over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road (replaced by Craig Mackail-Smith).

Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Hopefully, he scores the goal that keeps them up!
