Re: Other Football
My grandson sent me this picture from the future.
It's a decade after the Great War of 2027 and just two years following The Relocation.
Seems to have worked out OK.
Re: Wycombe Wanderers Women
Yes, Kayla Potter correctly played to the whistle. I would be interested in hearing from any referees, on what they would have done.
Re: New Manager Vote
I think you are probably right @Chris but we may be about to step into the unknown for the first time in about 11/12 years.
Another safer option may be to offer the head coach job to Dobbo with Vokes as his assistant head coach.
Attendance Prediction - Northampton Town (h) - Sat 25th Jan '25 - Match 27 in 24/25
I go 5500 with 600 away fans.
I hope I am wrong and we do have more than 5000 home fans. The atmosphere on the terrace was reportedly very good for the home game against Portsmouth and I know it was good in the away end for most of the game against Mansfield and it was fantastic there at the end of the game.
One reason for our own attendances not matching comparable sides could be the subscription model. Two or three poor games or an altered fixture list for a month that contains only tv kick offs or evening kick offs is a reasonable reason to cancel a subscription. Also Season tickets go on sale at a time of maximum optimism.
Those who have excess to this data would presumably be able to tell what happened to our number of regular fans since the time when subscriptions were introduced. Of course you have to allow for the complete lack of a chairlift.
Perhaps if / when we do make the Championship, the club could return to season tickets being the focus for those who want to attend the majority of matches. Give a proper discount to those who would have unexpired portions of subscriptions to encourage people to make a commitment for a season. As well as installing a chairlift.
Re: New Manager Vote
"The M-Dog" as you put it did say he fancied another go and wasn't done yet not too long ago, but it seems inconceivable that being a Wycombe legend is high on the list of requirements or that him and the board would get on in any possible way.
The younger O'Neill has done brilliantly for a couple of spells in the Prem although ultimately ending up with the sack, would be a remarkable coup ahead of champ sides but it's entirely possible we are offering decent money.
JT or similar could be awful, anyone unfortunate enough to remember Tony Adams spell can probably still remember the condescending Arsenal fans and press coverage which seemed to get more favourable to him as he got worse and worse.
Re: New Manager Vote
I really hope it is not Des Buckingham. Much like Russell Martin, winning the playoffs is great, but a small sample size to base "successful past" upon. Before and after that he did not do much with Oxford, and almost took them out of a playoff spot having taken over around the autos.
Schumacher has the pedigree of relentlessly getting an unfancied team to 100 points in L1 and then going well in the Champo before leaving for Stoke.
I don't think we'll get Schumacher, mind. I expect that once managers have shown they have talent at a given level, they may be loathe to drop down a division.
Re: New Manager Vote
Yeah - he's a liability in the technical area too, as he can only stand for three quarters of the match.
Re: Man of the Match - Mansfield (A)
What an idiotic and classless post, well done, thanks for your contribution. If you are sure of that you clearly haven't read anything I've posted in about 5 years.
There's a difference between thinking a substitution isn't the one required at a particular moment and slating a player. I was as delighted as anyone when he scored and found it quite funny. Keep going on about it though if it helps you in some way.
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
I reckon it would make more sense for Sadlier to go there...
Re: Man of the Match - Mansfield (A)
Gmac on 197 appearances now too (Grimmer on 198). Set to be a 200+ game legend for two different clubs, which is not easy to do!
