Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
Hopefully an announcement today and the players can return to training tomorrow with a new boss
Re: Match Day Thread: Barnsley
It seems incredible how that happened doesn't it.
It only feels like a week or so ago that they were right on our tail.
Re: Other Football
This is why however rich a team is, while football is 11 v 11 we'll always love the madness.
Re: Richard Kone signs
The only player to play in the homeless and regular world cups?
(Though Gascoigne must have come close to doing it the other way round)
Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
That's no different to the other day. Lee Johnson confirmed himself that he hasn't had any contact from the club, and suspects that the odds are just reflective of the fact he was at the Mansfield game (but was also at 3 other games that same weekend).
Re: Man of the Match - Barnsley (H)
But we did beat Mansfield away as well and they are a very decent side.
Re: Ringing The Blues
Thanks @Ozzie_the_Relaxed
I loved chatting with Trev and getting to see his miniature GM Vauxhall Conference trophy.

Re: Rumour Mill
Judging by how much the media team are gushing over King Kone this morning (plus even letting him do his post match interview, let alone his responses) I am becoming increasingly convinced that he's here to stay for the season.
Re: Match Day Thread: Barnsley
What a night that was! A really gritty and determined performance that shows that we have a special character that doesn't drift away when individuals invariably leave.
The first half was fairly encouraging though it felt like we were going to have a re-run of our wasteful use of possession in the final third against Northampton. We looked that bit more purposeful in the second half, and the crowd really seemed to respond to it.
I can't understand Barnsley's complaints about the penalty, Fred was fouled twice in the box already before he was shoved to the ground with a clear arm to the back. I guess you'll whinge about anything to try and get an advantage...
I didn't get a good view of the red card incident, but generally if the Family Stand go apoplectic with rage you must have done something utterly hideous.
Barnsley didn't have much possession in the second half used the spells they did half well to create a good few chances, and should have put away at least one.
In the end, our relentless pressure told. Garath McCleary maybe has lost half a yard of pace but can still put a cross in past the full back, the cross to set up Kone for the winner was put behind him to create space away from the defender, but still needed excellent technique from Kone to arch back and glance it goalwards.
The comparison of King Kone with Noel Ashford isn't one I can comment on as I was barely out of nappies in 1986, but all reliable witnesses at the time describe Noel as being someone as head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch as Richard so often is for us. The post match interview from him shows a young man who's been through so much speaking out from his heart, hopefully he can be given the opportunity to at the very least finish the season with us and indelibly write his name into Wycombe Wanderers history.
The old reactionary in me isn't enthused by spunking huge sums on transfer fees, though the real value in having a vastly wealthy owner surely must be to hold on to special talents like Richard Kone who are near enough irreplaceable at League One level.
Re: Match Day Thread: Barnsley
Does anyone else have to check themselves when you say to fellow fans ' We should DEFINITELY TURN DOWN £6 million for Kone' ?
