Re: Random sightings of our players outside of football
I loved that place when I lived in the flats overlooking the station. I seem to remember they had the odd jazz night which seemed very un-Wycombe at the time. Good times
Re: Rumour Mill
These worst places to live lists are always an absolute joke
To put Windsor and Henley anywhere near the top of any list like that even dafter.
Re: Alex Hartridge signs
Strange being on the other side of this one to what we’re used to, as typically we’re normally the club players leave and then come back to.
But for Alex’s sake I hope this gives him a chance to get some games and rediscover some confidence.
The loans for Hartridge and Butcher are sensible moves as they solve an immediate issue in squad size without losing them forever if they have a good second half of the season.
Re: Random sightings of our players outside of football
Legit just been there today, what a beaut!
No wanderers sightings tho
Re: Alex Hartridge signs
Agree, but if they've not got regular games this season, if we did go up they'd have no chance of much action.
Hartridge is given a real glowing reference by Exeter's manager, so hopefully a decent spell there will earn him a contract back there for next season.
Re: Rumour Mill
I'm glad i'm not the only one who though Bakinson had a good game on Tuesday.
Butch did well last season, and we'll always have Valley Parade.
Re: Rumour Mill
My favourite moment of the new training video is Kone seeing Caleb Taylor and saying "Hey - we don't need you. Go back." to which Caleb responds by mock strangling Rich in a headlock.
Re: Rumour Mill
I don’t think Butcher has been particularly hard done by.
Scowen, Morley and Humphreys were all undroppable when we played with a single pivot. We tried to play Butcher in that single pivot system (with Morley as single pivot at the base) and it didn’t work - Butch is far too laboured in build up. One footed. Wooden. Slow on the half turn. Good at breaking up the play, but not particularly strong on second balls and weak at progressive passing.
We also tried to play him in a double pivot (as an actual pivot) - even more of an issue because he lacks the agility to progress us up pitch. Bakinson proved on Tuesday exactly why he’s chosen ahead of Butcher with an excellent performance
Is Butcher a really good person? Yeah he comes across as a lovely bloke in interviews. Was he excellent at times last season? Yeah. Has he played well this season? Once in my opinion. He’s had a larger chunk of poor performances though.
He’s not had much of a chance. It must have been incredibly frustrating, but it was simply infeasible to play him out of guilt. The alternative options have all been much better this season.
I wish him all the best of luck. I’m sure he’ll do well at Rovers.

That mad game, 2005

Re: Today...
2-2 up to 43 mins, then lost 7-2!
The only madder second half I can remember in my Wycombe supporting days was that Villa game in the cup where we were 3-1 up at half time, then literally everything Villa hit went in and they won 8-3!
(Yes, literally, @micra ;-) )
