Re: Man of the Match - Bristol Rovers (H)
In one start, Simons now has almost exactly as many MOTM votes for the season as Leahy and Lubala (30 starts) combined. That is some way to come out of the gate!

Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
I have reached a point where I don't bother with player or manager interviews. Apart from the odd (probably inaccurate) insight into the sort of person they may possibly be...often the content neither informs nor illuminates.
Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
Pope Francis appears to be very ill.
Which means a Lowry hattrick next Saturday.

Plus Dodds has confirmed Kone is back in training 🙏
Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
I would love to see a 3 5 2 formation with Bradley Taylor and Lowe the back 3 and Udoh and Kone up front

Re: Man of the Match - Bristol Rovers (H)
The last few weeks has really confirmed to me why we had that 1 win in 17 run under MB and then turned it around after Xmas 23 and the amazing run we've had first half this season. To then go backwards for a few weeks and hopefully now turned a corner again.
Square pegs in square holes in all 11 positions across the park, for the system you want to play, makes a massive difference - well at least 9 of the outfield 10!
The sum of the parts is what is most important. We had too many back ups or people out of position the last few weeks.
Skura is an able deputy but Back showed what a proper right back can do.
Bradley has been magnificent but Taylor is rolls royce for how we want to play on the front foot and dictate the play.
Leahy/Scowen - only one of them can really play if we want to play this way. If both play, we need to accept it maybe more long ball.
Morley/Simons - with how they play the team can really tick, without them we look fairly average and devoid of ideas. Small sample for Simons I know.
Fred as been a little disappointing recently but a disappointing Fred tends to still be better than a great Lubala and Udoh out wide.
Lowry really looked good last night in his little cameo.

Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
I know that man has had a far amount of negative comment over the last few months on this forum but I think we should applaud Rice for the January signings. Clearly there is still mystery about our Danish signings but Taylor coming back, Bradley, Simons, Norris , Lowry and Back have improved an already competitive squad. Clearly don’t know enough about Reach and Berry.

Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
I agree with this to a point . It's clear Bristol has a vastly bigger population but quoting 75k is always a bit lazy for me . South Bucks has 164000 people and there is not reason for out football club to only appeal to people inside High Wycombe town. Shrewsbury has a population of 75k , no urban area like us and average more than 1000 home fans more than us . They are at the other end of the table . They are also close enough to Birmingham for their large football clubs to have a pull on the locals allegiances (before we start claiming we are unique with local competition . It is bloody dissapointing .
