Re: Match Day Thread: Barnsley
Last night is why we go to football. Our players gave EVERYTHING for that result and the celebrations to a man showed to everyone that regardless of recent changes there is a certain magic that is running through this club and this squad that won't go away.
Kone's goals will always get the headlines but he is the talisman of so much more. He battles for everything. He inspires. 12 months ago we had just signed him. 12 months.
Barnsley can spin whatever they want out of last night but we absolutely battered them. Their clumsy number 5 was all excited when he blocked a shot in the box near the end. That was their mentality, hanging on by a thread and thinking they were heroes for doing so. We destroyed them. We were irresistible.
With five days to go until that window closes we will see a defining period for our club.
Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
He was stitched up by Hayes' little pre season ultimatum meaning we only had the absolute bottom of the barrel to pick from signings wise. Had no chance of staying up after that.
But even before that his recruitment didn't half have some "interesting" characters.
Re: Rumour Mill
We are in the promotion hunt and who do you think gives him the opportunities to score. Fred wins the penalty and GMac pops one straight on his head for his second.
Sam Grace has 7 points from a possible 9, that’s to be applauded but he won’t get the job, we need him in the academy where his skills are much better suited.
We are giving ourselves a platform to finish in at least the Playoffs and we now see clear daylight between us and third/fourth.
This is our finest ever season in the EFL. Enjoy it and spread some joy rather than all this negativity.

Re: Match Day Thread: Barnsley
That radio interview with SG someone posted earlier explains EVERYTHING that the naysayers have been moaning about. There is absolute method to the ill-conceived ‘madness’. He really is a credit to this football club, and long may he continue working for us, regardless of who takes over the head coach role.
That high press we were running, especially after they scored in the first half, it was like a swarm of Blues. They had literally nowhere to go at times, and we were taking the ball back time after time. The fitness of our squad is incredible.
Best performance since Boxing Day.
Long live our King.
Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
There were also a number of saves there keeper made that would have gone in on another day.
The positives, really, was we created those chances when we had struggled to that in previous games. Even against 11 men with a lead making it hard for us to score.
Yes it took a pen and a sending off to help, but bar the first ten mins or so (and a late scare as a result of pushing for a winner) we were on top and SG and the team should get the credit for that.
That said, I wouldn’t be pushing for SG to get the role permanently. But then I didn’t think MB was ready after only 4 months at col u, so what do I know?

I saw a supporter of a Champ club (not Luton, but can't remember who) say they should grab Kone for 300K as part of their January window. They must have been reading that site and thought they would sound informed. 😂

@frequentstander good advice to click onto the SG interview - just listened to it. So much intelligence and common sense there, and also a very clear explanation about how they are integrating the new arrivals. Also agree with @Fidget’s assessment of Sam’s assessment!
