Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
Leave them alone, sounds like a good event that helps build community cohesion, no need to go seeking sub clause a part 12.
Not convinced somehow that it was the bit where women were the other side of the aisle that upset Neil...
Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
Again, somewhat disingenuous given that a Christmas party is an entirely different type of event to a religious sermon or ritual. Dancing to the Pogues and Easy 17 whilst sozzled on mulled wine is very different to listening to a priest/imam lecturing about Jesus/Allah
Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
Can't see how cancelling the Christmas parties in the Vere will help us at all but if you insist....
Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
@WanderingDays - point of order, the Abrahamic religions predate the medieval era, the first (Judaism) by a couple of thousand years, with the latter (Islam) being around the time that Benedictine Rule was being laid down in monasteries is arguably on the cusp of the European medieval dawn, although certainly not in the Arabian peninsula. I would describe them therefore as archaic values, the sort of ethics that get you through when you can't predict or mitigate against extreme weather events or your people are subjected to mass slavery or worse. Some of that still goes on, so I suppose it has its uses in that respect and the way the world is these days it seems that state by state a lot of the world is heading back to dictatorships, so maybe it will be increasingly useful once more as we regress as a society.

Re: Culture Corner
Back in 1982 I saw Dylan at Earls Court. So long ago I can't remember anything about it - other than how far away the stage was!

Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
I’ve been calling for more engagement with High Wycombe’s Islamic community for a few years now. Really pleased to see the club show proactivity in that space. Really displeased to see such a hateful response from a proportion of our supporters. I think it’s a great initiative. Well done to the club.
Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
I'm also an atheist. Given the truth of the statement about Catholicism / Hinduism above (all three are very conservative ideologies), I think the best policy would be to not host religious events at AP at all. The club ends up being associated with or actively facilitating practices which contradict the club's values.
I also think your statement about WWFC Women is slightly disingenuous. The reason for segregation in women's sport (i.e. safety/fairness) is entirely different to the reason for segregation in organised religion (medieval views set out within one's holy book).
I think the whole thing opens a big can of worms
Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
Swap Reach for Kodua. Reach is essentially a left sided wingback or attacking midfielder.
Giddiness knows what has happened to Fin Back. He looked an exciting prospect during his hour there a couple of months ago.

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
Professionals and Conmen in our back three. Bit disturbing.
Seriously though, one of the things that got me swearing loudly on Saturday was the sight of usurper Norris rolling the ball slowly back and forth under each foot alternately as if to say “look at me, look how comfortable I am on the ball”. Wonder if MD is comfortable enough in his own skin (is that an expression?) now that he has both feet planted firmly under the table, to suggest a “well earned” rest for Norris in the interests of keeping his deputy sharp ? Too radical, I guess.
That photograph of a lonesome Kone which you posted earlier brings graphically home just how reluctant his teammates were to push on in support (or indeed were under instructions not to do so). Whatever happened to the old adage about attack being the best form of defence ?
