I read somewhere that a tribunal would be likely to award at least the same or similar amount as any offer that was made for him in the last 6 months leading up to the tribunal. Can’t remember where I read it though, think was on some Swansea newspaper site…

In order to get any compensation from the transfer, we have to have evidence that we offered Joe an extension / new contract and that he turned it down in favour for his future club. If we have told the player that they are being released / not offered a deal (normally happens at the end of the season) then we wouldn't get anything (just like the Premier League teams at the end of the season).

It won't always be pretty, but as he builds and adds more quality, they'll tweak and develop the playing style accordingly. We were always labelled as long ball, which for several years with Bayo up front we were. By the end though, we had some real high quality players and were playing some fantastic football. Despite this, we still got very little credit from opposition managers and supporters. They're whining is something you'll have to get used to and learn to relish! "You know what to expect with Shrewsbury" will be a mantra you'll hear a lot from managers who despite knowing what to expect seemingly have no idea as to how to stop you!

99% of people have interviews whilst still doing their current jobs. It's absolutely the norm. Not sure why that would be an exception in this case.

We didn't exactly fight to keep him. As far as I am aware, no counter offer, no contract extension just a one line message about them being disappointed he's left midway through the season. They've spent millions on academy, training ground, recruitment and now players. I'm sure if they'd wanted him and if MB felt wanted they would have found enough money to keep him to stay and he would have been very happy. The fact he's felt the need to go elsewhere speaks volumes to me.

The ownership group maybe very successful and throw lots of money at it and there is many ways to do things, I just feel very upset about us losing our family/community feel.

The owners at Wrexham have certainly made that a great community club and made everyone feel welcome from the outside looking in. So, you can have success, spend loads of money and still have a family/community feel.

Gape is exactly the kind of signing (and bloke) you want in the team when you’re fighting to stay up. He’s not particularly bad on the ball but he is absolutely fantastic without it. Fantastic on second balls, which are vital to win in an Ainsworth setup. A leader as one of our ex ‘generals’ and certainly captain/vice captain material given time and if he stays fit. You’d be hard pushed to find a Wycombe fan with a negative view of Gape. He won’t shine in the top half of League 1 nowadays, but he’s obviously being signed to help you scrap and stay up. He’s ideal for that. Really hope he stays fit for you - that’s the main challenge.

I agree. I’m trying to forge an unpopular third way, in which the actions of Dan Rice and Matt Bloomfield are inevitable rather than Machiavellian.

Maybe Matt knew he was not wanted from the start, and the pressure grew every time they sacked someone out from under him? If he was not wanted, he knew he was a bad run away from the sack himself, and bad runs always happen eventually. I know I would be looking for a new gig as soon as it was made clear I was not the company man. That certainly does not make him guilty of anything.
