Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
The club statement and the wording of MB's statement: "made me feel wanted...I want to work with people who care..." There you go. Over to you Mr. Rice...
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Nothing wrong with that statement imo, but I can understand how the tone might come as a bit of a surprise. Brave new world and all that.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Bloomfield said: “It’s a genuine honour and a privilege to be here, to be appointed as manager of this incredible club. I’m really, really proud. It’s been a busy few days, a very busy weekend but I’ve met the recruitment team, met Gary and spent some time with the board.
“The fact that they’re all Luton supporters and that they care so much about their football club shone through, and the fact that they had a real big desire for me to join our football club also shone through, so I’m incredibly proud and very, very happy to be here.
“That made me feel very comfortable and very wanted, which is huge for me. I want to work with people who care and fans who also care – and they certainly do here. I want to work with people who want the best for their football club, and that’s more than evident with Gary, the chairman and the board of directors.
“That feeling that they gave me and the feeling of being wanted, how much research they’ve done into me and the football team that we’ve produced at Colchester and Wycombe, and the knowledge base of what I stand for, who I am and what we’ve tried to produce in our football team left me in no uncertain times that this was the right move at the right time.”
Please read into this what you want (from the Luton article)
Re: Coventry City interest in Matt Bloomfield
Good afternoon all, Boosh here:
Just wanted to drop by and say it was a shame we decided against Bloomfield as you would have your new manager now for January.
I think Luton will be a step too far for him unfortunately and no doubt he will end up back down with you sooner rather than later.
Good luck for the future.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Seems like the sort of statement that you'd expect from a club owned by a Kazakh billionaire...
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
That statement does more to confirm the rumours of a big rift far more than anything I've read on here in the past 24 hours.
20 bloody years of service. Couldn't we at least acknowledge it?
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
"Paul Lambert has resigned as the Wycombe Wanderers manager after two years in charge, saying it was time to "hand over the reigns to someone else". The club failed in their promotion bid at the weekend when they lost their League Two play-off semi-final to Stockport County.
"I am bitterly disappointed that we failed to win promotion, but I leave with my head held high," said Lambert. "This is a great club, but I feel that the time has come for me to move on. I haven't been forced out - the decision to leave is entirely mine - and I don't have another job to go to. I just feel that this is the right thing to do.
"I want to thank the players for their fantastic efforts this season. They're a first class group of lads who worked incredibly hard for me and never provided a moment's trouble. Whoever takes over will inherit an excellent squad."
Basically, he felt like he couldn't take us any further and it was someone else's turn to have a go
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
The past teaches us that managers and players come and go. I remember being gutted when Brian Lee resigned, but the club went on. Was trying to think of something more profound to post, but I cant think of anything that’s not already been said. Ultimately it’s the fans who are the club. We’re still here, for now. We have a billionaire owner now, things will change. Would we prefer the Couhig’s?
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Exactly this. It's changing and not for the better from a community viewpoint but possibly from a league position. I think the Shrewsbury Chairman summed it up the other week. Not much has changed at their end but everyone else's budgets have changed around them and they cannot compete.
Over the last 34 years at AP we have more highs and lows than any other league team. In it together and a community. I just don't see how that continues with all this money being spent and a potential journey to the media's "promised land"
I may be being bitter and I know we need a sugar daddy to survive but I wanted a small sugar daddy who kept us in league one with the occasional foray into the Championship and maybe a drop down to League Two for a few seasons. This feels quite different and our club may have changed forever. I need to decide if I want to be a part of that or cut my nose off to spite my face.
I'm going to miss the reaction of people asking me who I support and I answer "Wycombe Wanderers" as most people just don't get why supporting a lower league club is massively thrilling and a rollercoaster. An established, Premier League / Championship WWFC doesn't have quite the same appeal. That's definitely my issue and something I need to come to terms with.
