Strewth, the Sunderland fans seem to be queuing up to drive him down here. General consensus seems to be ok coach, terrible head coach and uninspiring playing style. He has some fans on there though.

You make a good point and I guess part of the reason I’ve felt that we are moving away from that approach is the comments from some of the fans of the clubs where we have recruited players from. It has to be taken with a pinch of salt, of course, but there have been numerous comments about individuals having ‘bad attitude’.

Maybe I have got it all wrong and that Rice wants to keep the same values that we have had as a club for the past 10 years.

Interestingly Mike Dodds’ brother Daniel is a scout for Borussia Dortmund.

Add me to the list. Whatever has happened behind the scenes can’t be changed and our focus now must be helping the players as much as we can. There will always be differences of opinion about the direction our club is going in and I remember countless times having to be the Henry Kissinger between Martin O’Neill and Ivor Beeks after they’d disagreed on something. The club is bigger than any one person.
