Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
The Chesterfield goal was amazing and capped a great day out.
Re: Other Football
The 130 charges being investigated will give us some sort of insight into their affairs. I dare say we'll never get to the bottom of how much extra there was going on beyond that.
But when you have a City rivalling the long term historic global powers for stuff like merch and sponsorship you really have to laugh at them claiming it with a straight face.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Hate Luton and never picture them as saints, or anything more than scum tbh, but talking to contracted players, agents and managers behind the scenes is fairly standard now by all accounts, Blooms was within his rights to see what was on offer elsewhere, more so if there's any hint he wasn't being exactly cherished, I would have liked him to stay but none of that means much now, seems pretty unlikely Blooms picked these new players so let's see who the new guy is and what the plan is....and hopefully a win tomorrow.
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Three things I particularly remember about Dom Gape.
Our amazement when he was signed permanently (and very unexpectedly) following a successful spell on loan from Southampton.
His goal away to Chesterfield that secured promotion to League One. We were having a family lunch in the Crown at Penn and I had to take sneaky looks/listens to events in Chesterfield. The crowd pitch invasion from the away end at the final whistle was a sight to behold.
His pre match visits to the Woodland Lounge when not playing. (Must have been in his early twenties but looked about 16.) His frequent laughter as he chatted to fans on the next table.
The goal he scored from the halfway line at home to ……,,,.HELP!!!
That’s four things. The guy was amazing.
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Yep, Gape if fit will definitely be a solid signing for Shrewsbury.
Assume he must have been ticking over well at Eastleigh to get the chance of a move back to league 1?
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Yes there's been 2 superb away wins, but what about the 2 wins from 6 at home in the league? Calling it a bit of a lull isn't exactly unfair I don't think - we're still having a brilliant season all in!
Re: FA Cup 4th Round Draw
Take that. Was hoping it wouldn't clash with the Everton game but I'll be taking the kids to Preston.
Re: Other Football
Loved the commitment of Ainsworth’s era, but not the style of play
Loved the football of Bloomfield, and the success his style had enjoyed this season until he left
Had he stayed, would Blooms have been our most successful manager? I suspect he may well have
