Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
OK. Zeit zu sehen, ob wir einen weiteren Dänen unter Vertrag genommen haben. BLOOMSFIELD IST NACH LUTON GEGANGEN
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Blooms could be willing to leave because of the chance to manage in the Championship, with a decent squad that'll have a good crack at staying up, it's slightly closer to home, and he'll get a sweet pay-bump. It doesn't need to be a case that he's fallen out with the owners and wants to leave, but perhaps for Data Dan... it suits his forward vision too.
Again the strange thing is, if Blooms is doing so well his metrics are top of whatever database owners find new managers - hence why he's been linked to so many clubs... surely our own data-focused ownership team would feel the same way?
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
True, but as a counter, they have had plenty of time to revise and improve his contract to make it harder (and more lucrative for Wycombe) for anyone to prise him away, especially once his name started getting linked with Champo clubs a couple of months back. They have never been helpless.
McKenna is an example higher up - once it became apparent he was linked with better jobs, Ipswich handed him a fat pay bump.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Rice is calling all the shots. Doesn’t take a genius to work that out. He will have someone lined up already. Of course everyone is publicly all smiles.
Does anyone think Rice would have come to Wycombe if he didn’t have total control over the direction of travel?
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
I don't think anyone's disputing his control, only his attitude towards having one of the up-and-coming young managers in the EFL as an asset. To be casual (if he is) about such a manager leaving when he has taken us into the auto places, screams hubris.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
But IF he has a release clause in his contract (presumably one the Couhigs entered into) the Club has to legally comply with i unless @bargepole can find a loophole..
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
I don’t blame Blooms at all, Luton is a fantastic fit for him for all the reasons mentioned. He won’t ever be more than 6 weeks away from losing his job, but that’s the reality almost everywhere in football.
I also don’t blame the owners either. It’s perfectly understandable they’d want their own man running the show, particularly as they have spent, and continue to spend, serious money on the first team.
It is terrible sad though.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
That surely will remain the all time worst.
Although it was a tidy effort letting them then buy out his clause just before selling him.
Thankfully we're a stronger negotiation outfit these days.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Great post. I'll be absolutely livid with the ownership if Blooms goes. A brilliant season potentially derailed. Either way, they will be very much on the clock to show their plan works.
