Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
I remain unconvinced by the formation - and while a 1-0 victory is always welcome I do think it papers over cracks we can all see.
I like playing with a back three. But I think we need to ensure when we do the rest of the side are attack minded and that really stems from the wing backs. Playing with Grimmer and Leahy is the surest sign that we're setting out to grind a narrow victory - overly cautious, defensive-minded long ball. I just think we're better than that, especially against Lincoln. If we continue to play with Kone isolated he'll continue to overstretch and foul when balls come his way. Reach is classy but we don't need him roaming in the middle - we need a second striker to play alongside Kone. I know Udoh and Lubala are unavailable but why not try Vokes alongside him, especially if we're persisting in the ridiculously uncultured long ball play from Norris?
I thought the most interesting comment on this feed came from @StrongestTeam when he wondered if we'd ever started a second half strongly under Dodds. That was exactly what I was thinking at the time, also remembering the disastrous restart post Wrexham timeout. Does he have any presence in the dressing room? Any insight? Any motivational nous? I'm not confident he does.

It is. There are some strange people about
Re: Culture Corner
I liked the Moondance Lp but never got the Van Morrison being a genius either. I remember someone telling me him storming off after twenty underwhelming minutes at a concert was the sign of a genius...whereas I thought it was the sign of a twat.
(Years later, the Covid period seemed to confirm it.)
Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
Dodds was criticised for not winning, so he changed the style and got two wins. He's still being criticised.🤷♂️🤦♂️

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
You can’t argue with the two wins but the starting formation has not been fluent at all and to me and many others is a real concern.
Beat Shrewsbury and we put pressure on the chasing pack. Reading will also be desperate to keep in touch of the Playoffs on Saturday.
What a great run in we’ve got with some critical games for both teams.

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
Under Gaz we were told it was the (winning but direct) style of football that explained low gates, shocked the casual attender, embarrassed people who brought mates along who would never come again and bored the kids. I am shocked to find out that it's actually the thousands reading the Gasroom.
There is at least one poster on here who never gave GA a single benefit of the doubt for three seasons now telling the dimbos who find some of the present tactics a bit perplexing that boring football to win games is fine and its points not style that matters.
Re: Culture Corner
I was introduced to the classic Bob Dylan era circa 1978 by a mad, aging British motorcyclist nut who I don’t think I ever saw sober in the 3 or 4 years I knew him before he blew himself and his motorbikes up in his garage one afternoon.
He was an absolute disciple and spent many a drunken afternoon after the pubs shut preaching the Dylan gospel to me.
He succeeded. To this day* I can multitask drinking a bottle of Black Bush whilst singing word for word all of the Highway 61 Revisited album (very badly).
*Not that I ever get the chance to just sit, drink and sing these days, but if I did…

so is pillicock, a tool for getting stones out of horses hooves, a male partridge or the former Rotherham manager.
