Re: Man of the Match - Mansfield (A)
Good post - I still think a major issue is that Bez is out of position on the wing. Since we insist on Fred and GMac spotting each other on the right, we have had no true wide men for a while out left.
Bez is really good in the box itself, but gets marooned out wide as far as being able to create much. I think it is a case of him being too good of a player for the manager to feel like he can leave out, but I would prefer Fred/GMac as the main men on left and right, with Kodua backing up GMac and Udoh backing up Fred (till Sadlier is back) and both Udoh and Lubala as options for spotting Kone.
Re: FA Cup 4th Round Draw
With Preston having been held by Matt Bloomfield’s Luton Town today, they now face three teams on the cusp of the playoffs. They could be on a rotten streak come the FA Cup tie and be on the edge of the drop zone themselves. The plot thickens.
Re: New Manager Vote
Certainly a decent opportunity to get even more of a margin going as Birmingham have Wrexham then Huddersfield.
Although we don't want to rule winning the league out, it'd probably be better Birmingham winning both those.
Re: Match Day Thread: Mansfield
One other moment few will have seen but the benefit of TV replays: Leahy and Humphreys look of sheer joy at each other after McCleary’s goal.
Re: Match Day Thread: Mansfield
Massive result and performance. Not at our best but fantastic team spirit. If we can keep the King and the Danes can preform as well as the Ricicles believe their data suggests then this could be a special year. The possibility of a bad run of injuries is always there but with luck and the return of Sads and Jasper…
Also I am now in love with Sonny.
Re: Other Football
Fantastic win for Bournemouth today (4-1 at Newcastle). Unbeaten in 11 and firmly in UCL contention.
Re: Other Football
Just watched the Matt Bloomfield interview after his first game and Luton achieving their first clean sheet in 12.
Whatever happened between MB and their ownership, I still would love to believe MB would have looked at our result and smiled to himself in private.
Re: Match Day Thread: Mansfield
He did. And completely scuffed his first attempt before booting it away on the second attempt. I think we can forgive him that, he must have been like a rabbit in the headlights with a ‘welcome to English football’.
Re: Man of the Match - Mansfield (A)
I'm giving it to Fred, terrorised them in the first half and back to his old self
Re: Match Day Thread: Mansfield
Love the positivity on here tonight and I think the celebrations at the end dispel any thoughts that the players will let the loss of a popular manager affect their desire and commitment to the cause. They are hardened professionals and they showed that today. To see a top player like Vokes who’s done it all for club and country leading the celebrations despite not even being on the bench proved that the oft mentioned Wycombe spirit can overcome any setbacks. Brilliant result in the context of a disruptive week.
