Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
Who mentioned church? My point is this: old doesn't necessitate obsolete. New doesn't always equal better. Hence my examples of where our society is at today. There are a lot of areas where we have seen improvements. There are many where we haven't 'progressed'. There are always various factors at play.
Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
Sorry @YorkshireBlue, when you wrote 'forget archaic religion' I thought you were talking about the church and I took that as an insinuation that the various ills you brought into the conversation were a consequence of forgetting said archaic religion. I don't think that any of the things that you brought into the conversation aside from climate change are novel and I see that we are in agreement that there are various factors at play and also that in some respects we have indeed failed to progress - mainly due to those other factors in my opinion, and presumably in yours since as you say, you were not bringing the church into it. All that is left is my confusion about your point of order - appeal to novelty fallacy, which was what I was trying to understand in the first instance.

Touché
We have lots of segregated events and clubs in the UK, it’s fine.
During Eid celebrations they segregate at points, normally during prayers and then come together to eat and celebrate afterwards.
Its a great family event, one that I have been invited to on one occasion by an old school friend of 40 years. Ramadan is tough on the body, especially here in the UK during the longer spring months, this year it was early so much easier. When it ends in June you can’t eat from 4.45am to 9.15pm when the sun is up, I couldn’t do it for a day let alone 30.

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
I was going to correct the spelling of Giddiness but I liked the sound of it. Might be scope to apply it wittily to Kodua at some point @Malone. Change the second d to an s.

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
While I agree neither Grimmer or Leahy fit the ideal wingback stereotype. It's clearly not the case that "neither of the fullbacks get forward at all" - the heatmaps show that.
They may not get forward as much as you'd like and I agree that Kone often looked isolated. However, most people thought that both GMac and Fred looked off it prior to the switch in formation and Dodds has to work with the player who are fit. Without Udoh, Sadlier, Lubabla, Back, Harvie how are we meant to line up?

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
I'd like to see a heatmap of a team that really plays two out and out wingbacks who attack. Neither Leahy or Grimmer appear to spend much time in the final third. A lot of that heatmap may just be going up the touchline for goal kicks or to take throw ins.
Until Fred entered the fray and we were getting desperate to score, neither wing back really pushed up the pitch in an offensive manner and it was much more like a back five from my view in the Frank Adams out of possession. I'm not sure out wingbacks were pushed right back but rather they chose to do so.
The wingbacks for the first 60 were only just ahead of the three CBs but for the last half hour, they were definitely a lot further forward than they had been earlier in the game.
Dan Harvie would massively add to this system, as he has the energy, speed and positiveness to make a difference. Leahy has been fine the last two games but is definitely a safe option.
One thing MB addressed was the lack of pace in the side, which gave him issues with a back three, so he moved to back four to bring more pace in. I'm seeing the same issues arising again with this starting line up. McCleary, Fred and Kodua have made a huge difference in the last two games, I'm not quite understanding why we do not see them from the off.

Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
The irony is that people being "negative" (I'd say "realistic") is because we want to get promoted, and don't feel this approach is likely to do it. If we don't go up, the same Positivity Police will be telling us not to complain, we have no right to the Championship, we were playing Met Police recently, etc.
Getting promoted from League One is not easy, and there is never a guarantee of another chance. I just want us to reach out and grab it, not hope it falls into our lap. If we actually go for it and fall short, fair enough. But the idea of just missing out and looking back on this type of passive, meandering football will be a unique form of torture.
Alternatively, if we do 1-0 and 0-0 our way to the autos (or pick up the scoring), fair enough, it somehow worked!

Re: Anyone still following Neil Harman on twitter?
When I lived in the KSA I never saw anybody celebrating Eid on a football pitch.
Football stadiums were sometimes used for a different aspect of Islam but I don't think we'll be seeing that at AP.
Re: Match Day Thread: Lincoln
This photo is meaningless without context. You can’t see where the other players are on the pitch and you don’t know what stage of the game this was taken or how the ball reached Kone. Worth remembering that we did score 3 goals away from home in that game.
