Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
I can’t get my head round how many of you are disbelieving. You’re all aware that Luton are in their first year of parachute payments, right? They obviously won’t be pushing for promotion this year but they are well set to finish at least in the playoffs in the next few years. Bloomfield could be a Premier League manager in 18 months - and he’d be deemed to be over-achieving in many circumstances because Luton are a ‘small club’.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
How do you know he’s been forced out ? Perhaps he’s just ambitious and sees Luton as a better option.
Re: The manager post Matty Bloomfield?
We won't be short of interest, that's for sure. I'd like Steven Schumacher, but also expect it will be someone we've never heard of. Exciting / nervous times indeed. I just hope this doesn't derail our window - reinforcements are still needed in a number of areas, while keeping hold of Low would be an even bigger bonus (though with today's news, I'd expect he's even more likely to want out).
Re: The manager post Matty Bloomfield?
Whatever way we go it feels like a fork in the road for Wycombe as a football club. A relatively unknown would be a different experience after having Gaz and MB in charge for so many years and both ingrained into our history and DNA.
Re: The manager post Matty Bloomfield?
We need someone who can implement a progressive system quickly. Rob Elliot has proved he can. But I'm minded to agree it'll be a hipster overseas pick.
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Outsiders will look at this and think "shame for Wycombe they couldn't hang on to him, he was doing such a good job"
It is absolutely insane that he has been forced out of the door and out of a job that he loves. The more I think about it the more disbelieving I am
Re: The manager post Matty Bloomfield?
I actually wouldn't mind the foreign manager route, if we have to part with Blooms. It would feel so different that it would almost be easier to deal with.
My vote is for random Danish data guy (maybe the Brentford chap if it's not just rumours).
Re: Matt Bloomfield to Luton?
Managers move on. Matt was always gonna move on. But it’s more than that. It’s the end of over a decade of something very special. From the brink of extinction to the Championship and everything in between.
Being 2nd in the league might not be sustainable but who knows. The next guy might make us 1st or 10th, Matt the same. It just feels this season is unfinished business. And nothing would have given me more pleasure than seeing Mr Wycombe (not a trivial cliche the guy has given us everything) lead us to the next level.
If he was happy with the new world order he would have turned down Real Madrid. I suspect this is not the change he saw for himself and like all humans sees an alternative path for his better and happier self.
Strap in the next part of the journey might be bumpy one and we have no idea who’s driving.
