Re: Please keep our Gasroom going Doc 🙏
@drcongo a huge thank you for all your work on setting up & running this place, as others have said I will miss it when it is gone.
As you say the OSA is a bag of spanners, yet another example of a dreadfully drafted piece of legislation that will spectacularly fail to deliver what it set out to do.
I, like you, am struggling to see how to create a decent forum that easily complies with OSA at minimal effort & cost & minimal risk to whoever is managing it. Whilst there is a plethora of options out there for the software to run it & hosting it, I am struggling to find a decent managed service offering that provides the support & protection needed.
I suspect we will probably end up on Reddit or Discourse at some point & if we do I hope to see you all there.
Re: Countdown to Wrexham
The terrace back row ears prick up and they start to google to find out what enrages them...
Re: Other Football
I now see why Man Utd have had to make so many staff redundant. They need to save the pennies to fund their new £2 billion stadium stadium!!!
Re: Please keep our Gasroom going Doc 🙏
Just a thought - what are other football club supporters groups doing?
Is it worth contacting the Football Supporters Association for advice?
Like others, would be sad to see the end of a Gasroom, but like them too I am not technically minded enough to know what to do
Re: Training ground
I also know for a fact that even Chelsea didn’t have exclusive use when Harlington was their training ground.
Re: Training ground
UCL own Watford’s training ground, which was also previously leased by Arsenal, and have the same type of arrangement.
Re: Training ground
I believe there are 18 grass pitches on the site so I'm sure ONE would be available for our Academy use at weekends!!!
Re: Today...
...in 2007 (18 years ago) Matt Bloomfield played 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers in a 3-0 League Two defeat to Torquay United at Plainmoor.
In 2012 (13 years ago) Matt Bloomfield played 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers in a goal-less League One draw with Colchester United at Adams Park.
In 2018 (seven years ago) Matt Bloomfield played 89 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers in a 1-1 League Two draw with Cambridge United at Adams Park (replaced by Scott Kashket).
Re: Countdown to Wrexham
I think the capacity is somewhere around 10,500, but the limit is considerably lower. The terrace limit was cut and the away stand limit was cut after Bristol Rovers caused trouble. In the old days, you could buy seated tickets in what's now the Origin Stand, or a standing ticket for the paddock. I believe now, only seated tickets are available, so the fans who stand are choosing to do so rather than sitting in their seat. Do correct me if I'm wrong, anyone who goes in the Origin Stand!
So taking the Sheffield Wednesday game from a few years back into consideration, which may or may not have been a sell out. The crowd that day I think was just over 9K. So I'd think the limit is somewhere around that, or a touch above.
Re: Training ground
We are very likely TO need to use it at weekends for obvious reasons. I.e. that’s the time academy football is played.
