Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Yep, i'm convinced Bloomfield is the only person connected to Wycombe who thinks he's a central striker.
His best work for us was in the wide left position.
Lubala should be the Kone central rotation option.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Also Hanlan is not a number 9 and never will be. With his back to goal his second touch is invariably trying to regain control whilst sprinting back towards his defence. He is so much more dangerous out in the wing.
Lubabla and Udoh are much better suited to the central role IMHO.
Re: Rumour Mill
Comparing the lad with Ivan Toney is an absolute joke. Kone is 21 and still learning. Richard has a bright future but there are many things in his game that need improvement at this stage of his development.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
I think when a club has a season as brilliant and unexpected as ours has been (so far) it certainly raises expectations to the point where every mistake and every failure to win seems bigger than it is.
We are going to lose the odd game, Ravs is going to make the odd mistake. We'll go on another run at some point and have fun with it! I remain thrilled at the fantastic season we are having, the odd blip aside.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Amazing,I read another post reckoning we were much better than the last 3 and could easily have taken a point.
I saw it closer to how you saw it.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Come on @DevonBlue , you surely can’t think that performance last night was anywhere near a top team level? Our tactics were terrible, people in wrong positions and lack of understanding throughout the team. The back five didn’t work and playing Leahy as left sided centre back was a disaster. Also, wasting Fred in a wing back position was criminal.
Re: Rumour Mill
The season Ivan Toney turned 21, he scored 14 goals in 43 games across two loan spells at league one level - 6 in 19 for a poor Shrewsbury side in the first half of the season and then 6 in 15 for a good Scunthorpe side in the second half of the season in the league, plus a goal in the EFL trophy and a goal in the play offs. He scored a goal every 230 minutes that season, across all competitions.
The season Richard Kone turned 21 (he turned 21 in July so I am counting this season) he has scored 16 goals in 33 games across all competitions - 13 in the league, 1 in the FA Cup and 2 in the EFL cup. He is scoring a goal every 120 minutes or so across all competitions.
We have no idea what the future might hold for Richard, but at this stage, he is actually a better player (statistically) than Ivan Toney was at the same age.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
We can't fall too much into the whoever isn't playing is the answer, trap.
Butcher has looked well off the pace when he has played this season, so if he's like that in training, it's no surprise others are ahead.
And when you had Morley, Humphreys and Scowen, no surprise at all.
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
5 games in 13 days...squad depleted by loan return and injuries and still 2nd in the league...what do fans expect???
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Blimey - we lost a close game to one of the main promotion candidates after a very tough period and everyone is in despair. We should isolate this result an look at the bigger picture. We are still having a fantastic season and once rested I have confidence our attackers will get back to their earlier form.
Huddersfield had a lot to gain yesterday and fair play- they took it with a classic dig in away performance but the season has a long way to go.
