Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
If I may be so bold....
1) he was "miles" offside. Extraordinary that it wasn't given
2) worse than that, it was inside the area and should have been a penalty. Got kicked in the face (although, and I understand your point , he wants actually injured)
3. Utterly brainless. He got two yellow cards for more or less the exact same offence. Silly for the first one, downright moronic for the second. Skura is a far better footballer
Can't understand anyone criticising Bloomfield for his substitutions today, they were all spot on. And we played as well defending a lead with ten against eleven as I've ever seen us. Clear signs of having worked on that in training and each player knew exactly what to do. Hanlan and Kodua in particular did fantastically well
Such a shame we couldn't hold on. The feel good factor would have been through the roof. But overall far more to be happy with today than not
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
That equaliser was inevitable. Sitting back for the whole duration, I was surprised we did that, that is a very bitter pill to swallow.
I’m not angry with Hartridge, just bitterly disappointed. Plain amateur behaviour. He’s cost us three points, I’m pretty certain of that.
And taking Cam off made no sense when the red card game, given McLearly clearly wasn’t going to last much longer and Fred had another stinker (although to be fair to Fred, the service today was not great). But if the plan was to sit back and defend then I guess the Cam sub made sense, but he was really starting to make an impact after swapping with Josh.
Thought Gids was very positive, Grimmer and Harvie also had great games. Low a rock as always.
Big game on Tuesday now.
Re: Aaron Morley
Did I misread this? Morley solely played as the deep player for us, so i'm not sure any of us would agree he's better further forward?
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
And in a slightly more true to form antagonistic post for the Hartridge fans.
Would you still like Tyla Dickinson in goal? Is Dave Wheeler still a suitable right winger? What about Daryl Horgan in the 10? Maybe Alex Pattison can do a job in midfield?
I think we should allow reasonable critique of our own players. I wouldn’t call them a donkey. I wouldn’t boo them or ridicule them in real life.
But this is an anonymous online forum that they likely don’t know exists. I will share my opinion on here as I like. I don’t think Hartridge is cut out for a team in the top 2 in League 1. I don’t even think he’d do a great job in the bottom four of this division. Please don’t make us out as subhuman for disagreeing with you. Opposing fans will surely never ever pick out Hartridge as one of our better players.
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
Agreed. Nothing to hold him to account for today but his inability to command the area is unquantifiable in terms of its ability to create unease in the defence.
I think the volume of set piece goals conceded attests to that.
Re: Aaron Morley
I wouldn’t bother with Twitter Jonny, just morons on there and we all have them. To be fair Evatt as usual makes things difficult dropping Matete who’s been our best midfielder recently to accommodate Morley as the deep lying midfielder when we all know he’s far better further forward. For 80 minutes he was anonymous until Evatt brings on said Matete and moves Aaron forward where he can influence games, which of course he did. To be fair his goal was a little fortunate but we won’t complain other than we thought a defeat might finally put us out of our misery and be the end of Evatt but that buggers got more bloody lives than a cat. I don’t know where that leaves us with Morley now because your guys don’t seem to be inclined to get the cheque book out but if he keeps doing well Evatt might just have to accept he has to stay and has to play. I still think the balls entirely in your court and I’d be amazed if negotiations weren’t still going on.
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
Thought the first yellow was harsh?! He absolutely wiped the guy out having arrived late.
He's alright, he's sort of steady and can do the basics at a league 1 level. But the drop from Taylor is just upsetting.
In fairness to him he's barely had a look in or chance to get any rhythm going and he's suddenly starting a league game when most of us would have had him about 5th choice at best recently.
But he'll do well to get another league start.
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
We were below par across the whole pitch for the first half. Not many coming out with credit. Passing was not what it’s been and when we got it wide neither winger seemed to get it under control.
Playing Humphries deep created chaos. Interesting we switched that after going 1-0 up and for the last 5 mins of first half we opened them up time and again.
I feel sorry for Hartridge, on another day it would have been a foul and no second yellow. He tried to clear the ball, striker got there a millisecond before him and he caught him. No difference to our penalty and the challenge on Kodua in 2nd half. Neither of their players got booked, so was inconsistent at best.
He was a good back up to Harvie at left back, when he was suspended and I think today was just him having a lack of match sharpness and feeling the pressure. I’ve got no issue with him playing again due to and injury or suspension. I’m sure he will be fine and we should be looking to support him and not throw him off a cliff.
We’d been so disciplined in defence it was a shame a moment of indecisiveness cost us at the end.
Big game Tuesday! COYB!
Re: Man of the Match - Blackpool (H)
Low was a giant at the back as always, especially with 10 men. I went for him
