Re: Rumour Mill
How quickly we have gone from putting out a weakened team is 'disrespectful to the competition'.... to a Cup game is unimportant now we have a chance of getting our trotters back into the Championship. 😊
Re: Caleb Taylor recalled
Dan Rice's analytical revolution is now front and center, with a bit of pressure to prove it's worth after losing two of Scott Mitchell's success stories.
I am confident we will be an attractive landing spot. Not as upset as others, as I thought it was extremely likely Morley would go back once it became apparent how much we were outshining Bolton with him, and Caleb seemed like a toss-up, but the needle moved towards leaving once the Baggies had their injuries. Nothing unfair or "what might have been" about either scenario, as neither belonged to us. They both have basically perfect legacies with us - their darkest hour is the one EFL match we lost with them in the side!
I feel a genuine sense of excitement - we might even get better players, you know! I can imagine a Champo (or even PL) decision maker scanning the EFL horizon and seeing Wycombe as a club at the very top of the tree, overachieving but still able to give serious minutes to good loanees.
Re: Rumour Mill
The interviews with Caleb and Blooms were filmed after the game yesterday so hopefully we have known this was coming and are already close to recruiting his replacement.
Re: Rumour Mill
The size, playing style, reputation and funding of our club has always been directly linked in opposition manager interviews to wether or not we've won.
Re: Rumour Mill
Regarding “little Wycombe” it’s interesting that the Exeter management team have us in a group with Birmingham and Huddersfield for “big teams who get those decisions”. (BBC Sport article)
Hmmmm…
Re: Caleb Taylor recalled
Whatever happens to them for the rest of the season, both Morley and Taylor will be back in a Wycombe shirt in May. Stood on an open-top bus through the streets of High Wycombe.
Re: Caleb Taylor recalled
The best central defender named Taylor we've had on loan from higher up the pyramid. But only just.
Re: Caleb Taylor recalled
@our_frank He would slot in brilliantly on that left side, for sure. But I can’t get those kind of hopes up… My heart is only now starting to mend from his departure (although when I saw he wasn’t in the Huddersfield line up a few weeks back I did start to imagine some crazy scenario - after all, he hasn’t played for Wolves this season). In all honesty, though, Nige seemed best suited to the LWB role.
And I’m still dealing with the loss of Aaron too. Difficult times for supporters of a club with so many special young loanees.
Re: Caleb Taylor recalled
@davecz if the management of a football club (one of whom had been a player at said club and seen it happen ) did not factor in the possibility of a good loan player going back to his parent club, I would be very worried.
@StrongestTeam who would not want to join a club (loan or permanent) with a good reputation, pushing for promotion? It will be a shame for Caleb and Morley if they miss out on a medal, if their clubs' title challenges stumble.
Re: Rumour Mill
And now what Kaspi is planning to do in order to eradicate all credit card fraud and in order to precipitate a totally cashless society, what they're planning to do, what they've already tested on the academy trialists, they're going to subcutaneously laser tattoo that mark onto your right hand, or onto your forehead. They're going to replace plastic with flesh. FACT!
