Re: David Wheeler departs
I know exactly how I’m going to celebrate our opening goal on Saturday.

Re: David Wheeler departs
Long ball down the line from the back in front of the main stand towards the Valley End. Timing his run to perfection leaping salmon like high above the bewildered full back, he meets the trajectory of the ball with the perfect flick on.
Confined to history but what a memory. Thank you David for being the most intelligent, principled, thoughtful player to don the quarters and a more than decent player to boot. Missed but never forgotten.
Re: David Wheeler departs
I got to know Wheels quite well as we did a fair bit of mental health and sustainability stuff together - including a bit for RTB for World Mental Health Day. But I have to say my favourite memory was meeting for coffee and, while I decided to be 'good' and just have a drink, seeing him, a professional footballer, stuff his face with a brownie. They're just like us.
Re: David Wheeler departs
I was going to say exactly that but feared someone would take offence (or is it offense?) and think being an MP might tarnish his reputation.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round Draw
I reckon we'll look to put out the strongest team we can. We only have 4 (potential 5 if we win here) midweek fixtures left and the transfer window has given us a good range of depth and options.
If fit, Joe Low should now play as I'm guessing all potential transfer bids that came in for him had that addition value that he wasn't cup-tied

Re: Wycombe Wanderers Women
I did Jess Watkins a disservice for her goal, she got to the ball before the keeper, really well taken.
Re: David Wheeler departs
Wonderful heartfelt letter from a truly professional guy. Brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. Thank you wheels for all you done for our club and very very best wishes for the future.

Re: David Wheeler departs
I could genuinely see David Wheeler becoming an MP in the not too distant future. He's eloquent, passionate, well educated, and has experience on working on things like sustainability and voting rights in his past. Green MP for somewhere on the south coast perhaps?
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Farnborough probably did have quite a few there then.

Re: David Wheeler departs
I felt that this news was coming but it still doesn't hit hard when it lands. He has been excellent throughout his time at the club and apart from GK, Centre back & Left back, I believe he's played in every other position for the club. His energy, determination & passion always shone through and I've never heard anyone question his commitment to the club.
Came in as someone who performed for Exeter, moved to QPR where his career stalled after having a few loan moves to then having 200 appearances with us and being classed as a Chairboy through and through. He also seems to have never aged a day since he arrived either!
Thank you Wheels for everything you've done, all that you've achieved and you deserve the right to find your next chapter!
