Being data driven will help identify players who fit a certain profile or have potential, and it's possible that may well have ruled out some very good and successful players of the past, but it may also find some gems.
It's really only only one of a range of approaches and tests though, you wouldn't ignore a medical because the data says he is a good fit, there's no reason at all to ignore the background, character and personality checks.

...in 2006 (19 years ago) Matt Bloomfield played 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers in a goal-less League Two draw with Northampton Town at the Sixfields Stadium.
In 2024 (one year ago) Matt Bloomfield was manager of Wycombe Wanderers in a 4-1 EFL Trophy win over a Brighton & Hove Albion B-Team at Adams Park.

Yes - I just suspect if he is turning down extensions, we will need to sell in the summer to avoid him leaving for nothing.
This has always been the most likely scenario anyway.
