Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
I actually thought it was a decent performance and close to a great result. Blackpool are a much stronger side away from home and tight defensively, so it was never likely to be a game where we carved them open and created a load of chances. We started the 2nd half well and looked like we'd get a 2nd before the sending off. That completely changed the momentum. Even so, it looked like we'd hold on reasonably comfortably until that late sucker punch.
The criticism of Hartridge for the 2 bookings is justified in my opinion. Very poor decision making from him. I'm not having all this rubbish about how poor he was and he should never play for us again though, that's just ridiculous. Apart from the bookings, he was fine and there seemed a consensus on the terrace that he was having a good game. Poor decision making happens when players aren't playing regularly. Pretty sure he'll be back in the side next Friday. The guy needs games!
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
I thought Hartridge was ok overall first half.
Played some nice balls into Harvie, spotted a Kone run and tried to put him through but didn’t put enough pace on it. Low was excellent defensively but gave the ball away a couple of times passing forward.
It’s just the decision making - Hartridge was beaten for pace and just scythed the guy down. Then to do something similar was completely brainless. Cost us 2 points and himself any chance of a run in the team.
Compare that to Scowen who knew he was on a yellow and stopped himself diving in a couple of times when he normally would have - just common sense.
Re: Aaron Morley
Time to shut this thread down. He’s not coming back. Thanks for the memories.
Re: Man of the Match - Blackpool (H)
Well Blooms knows better than most from first-hand experience. Football's attitude towards head injuries still leaves a lot to be desired.
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
I thought we played pretty well today and could have had 3 ( Kone and Low missed chances). Hartridge is not the solution at CB and was very rash with both the challenges he got booked for.
Nice to see Josh back and playing a full game.
Absolutely gutted that we just failed to hold on for the win but for me the lads really did put a lot of effort into that game.
Bring on Huddersfield and hopefully we can get a few recruits in the door to help the cause.
Re: Match Day Thread: Blackpool
The Humphreys incident definitely looked outside the area on the TV angle, but could be wrong.
Totally agree on Hartridge - the "bad luck" part of it is that if the freekick is given on the edge of their area, that challenge never happens a minute or so later.
Re: Man of the Match - Blackpool (H)
Whilst it looks like Cameron Humphreys was substituted as a consequence of Alex Hartridge’s red card and the need to get another centre-back on in Declan Skura, it might have been as a consequence of the head injury Humphreys suffered moments earlier.
Humphreys may well now need to follow concussion protocols, in which case he’ll be unavailable for the Huddersfield Town game on Tuesday.
Re: Aaron Morley
He played deep for us, with Scowen , our outstanding dm further forward, nobody could work out why for a few weeks until Morely started the spraying of passes and Scowen was keeping the ball in the opposition half with others attacking as well, was a joy to watch for a couple of months, no idea if we can do it without him or have to come up with something else.
Interesting to hear you say you think a transfer is still on, I assumed after that goal he'd now be sainted and untouchable with any suggestion of a sale career threatening for Evatt. Funny old game. Think people, including many on this forum forget we are shouting along and watching things happen and not much else.
Re: Other Football
Yep hopefully today isn't the day it turns against them, as it looked so positive before kick off.
Really hope they can get points in those next 2!!
