This was inspired by Sampdoria FC whose badge features a Yorkshire Terrier smoking a pipe whilst balancing a tiny bowler hat on his head. The Tykes loved this reference so much that they included a pipe in their latest badge change. Yorkshire clubs (outside of Sheffield) love changing their badges every few years due to their lack of association football heritage
