Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
Is the household name any good at holding up the ball and bringing other players into attack...?
Re: 24 / 25 Season Attendance Prediction Competition
After the Crawley Town Away Game - Match 30:
Many congratulations to @wwfcblue for holding onto top spot.
Congratulations to the entire top ten for retaining their places. @mooneyman @NewburyWanderer recorded the best score - [114] - of those in the top ten, a new 6th personal best and with it replacing a previous 10th best score of 200, the difference of 86 in those two numbers produces an improvement of 8.6 in this table, enough to take @mooneyman to the fringe of the sub 100 boundary and considerably closer to @ryan_w_kirkby2 in 9th position, but not quite enough to move positions. No one else in the top ten improved on their existing 10th best score.
@Glenactico's match score of 130 was a new personal 4th best and enough to climb to 14th place on this Leaderboard.
The closest match predictions this week came from those placed around the middle of the Leaderboard.
@BSE match score of 43 was the 2nd best prediction of the day and also a new 2nd best personal prediction of the season for @BSE, good enough to move from the other half of the Leaderboard into the top half.
Congratulations to Forecaster of the Week - @williwycombe - for a new personal best score of the season and congratulations to @our_frank, who was close in all of this match weeks tables and also recorded a new personal best for the season and the largest leap up the Leaderboard this week, and to a new personal highspot in the table too.
@Alexo recorded a 3rd best personal match day score and in consequence also moved up the Leaderboard.
Chat gpt made its 5th closest prediction so far but did not move on the Leaderboard.
Outside the Leaderboard there are congratulations for @tewkesburychairboy -just four predictions so far - so no position on the Leaderboard - but so far each prediction has been closer than the previous one, so a new personal best on ever occasion so far.
I hope to complete the Bristol Rovers game updates tomorrow.
Good luck to all with predicting the numbers coming to the Wigan game - that thread should be up very shortly. @railwaybeth and I are both coming so we will be in Block R rather than just me on the terrace.
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Excellent news for all concerned I think. Gaz is giving the Shrews some games to remember and I think he'll keep them up. Wheels will be a useful addition.
Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
I could make several suggestions but they are all things beyond my control….cheaper admission prices, better access and parking, greater presence in the town and surrounding areas, a better relationship with the local council etc. If we do get to the Championship I’m sure attendances will improve but I can’t do much about that either.
Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
Thanks good result for you guys and Wrexham losing. Hope you seal promotion. Even if we go down we are in good hands with Gaz.
Re: Other Football
Ainsworth, Dobbo, Gape and Wheeler. I am almost envious of Shrewsbury fans!

Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
Have to say just about the last ground I would have described as poorly located would be Exeter. Five minute walk from city centre with bars restaurants and shopping and ten minutes from beautiful cathedral and its green (albeit a shame the Royal Clarence burnt down). I have never had a problem parking either. Bit of character to the ground too and they have fixed the away end too. Can’t think of many better.

Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
Now that we have the money, I'd really love to see the club do something radical on ticket prices. There's always an argument that it won't work, but is there a better time to give it a try?
£31 for a seat in the Frank Adams is far too high for third division football under a leaking roof with truly basic facilities. By comparison, my other half is off to the theatre to see a play this Saturday afternoon, and her mid-priced ticket at a regional theatre is £27. There's even a household name in it - which isn't someone we'll see on the pitch this weekend at Adams Park.
Way back, theatre would have been regarded as 'for the toffs' and football 'the working man's game'. Absolute nonsense these days.
Re: Match Day Thread: Bristol Rovers
Oh and sod building any stands, just build flats instead because according to fans of other clubs, we’ve got no fans!

Re: Attendance Prediction - Crawley Town (a) - Sat 15th Feb '25 - Match 30 in 24/25

And also individual congratulations to @a40 with the only other forecast within ten - missing by just nine.

Gasroom Averages:
Nearly everyone overestimated the home crowd and underestimated our own away following.
Apologies for those that have been waiting for this post and its outcomes on the 'Tour de Season'. Those and the Bristol Rovers game results will follow. I was away and mostly away from the internet on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
