why on earth are people talking about Scowen leaving? Absolute madness

re: Simons, by the way, as I understand it we have an obligation to buy him in the summer not simply an option. Which is terrific as I think he’ll prove to be a brilliant player for us.

Because it’s a thread about players potentially leaving the club and some people may have a different opinion to you. Josh is my favourite player and I still think he’s fantastic, but it would be strange to not be able to understand posters who think otherwise. They make a good case for a scenario I find unfavourable.

I agree. Technically fantastic and really strong at driving forwards with the ball.

Just needs to keep a lid on his temper.

I agree and he is contracted for another year, although that doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t move on, of course. He is one of the best in his position in league one and would be comfortable in the Championship. Josh is such an intelligent, quality footballer.

Hmm I’d love to see Scowen stay and don’t think he’s diminishing. But he’s played a lot of football from a young age and given his style of play he’s clocked up more miles than my old Volvo. I think this point was made by the Heroes of HP12 a few months back. I don’t think it’s inconceivable that he could leave. But all moot at this point, let’s see where we end up come the end of May.

Scowen at 32 might want a new challenge and/or a longer contract (which may be his last one), or he might want to link up with Blooms or Gareth again.

GMac to academy coach seems a good shout, Don’t know if he is doing his coaching badges though. Not all players will do that.

For a while I think Wycombe Wanderers Fc was a ‘home’ for many players, rather than a stop off on their journey.

I don’t think that is the case any more and I’m not sure many future players will have the same apparent emotional connection to the club than some of those who have made this their home, albeit sometimes briefly, in the past.

I may be naive in believing that but the thought does make me sad.

Cheer up. In 2040 the entire team will consist of players who have been with us since they were 5 years old. That’s an emotional connection and then some.
