End of an Era for the Castle Cafe

For decades this was a popular meeting place for Wanderers fans travelling by the choo, choo to away games.
But now the bistro in Castle St has finally closed and will soon be an Indian take away called Spicey touch.

  • Shame, another Wycombe landmark bited the dust. I used to frequent the Castle Cafe loads as a student in the 1970's

  • Bites of course.

  • is that our last greasy spoon gone now ? (don't include witheringspoons)

  • Busy Bee along the London Road, opposite Homebase car park, Linda's cafe, Abercrombey Avenue are the only two I can think of.

  • Busy Bee's is a good shout but not an old fashioned greasy spoon as they have salad and everything, does that leave Linda's as the last vestige of egg an chips and stewed tea in the town ?

  • I think so @crabbie. There is one at Binders Yard, but that's too far out of town to count. Turnpike had one, but I think that's gone. Is there one on the industrial estate up top?

  • What used to be the Parade cafe on the corner of Dessie Rd is still going strong.
