Matt was always open about going to Colchester to take that risk of failure. That’s how he operates. You have to be brave to succeed. If he does join Luton, it’ll just be another opportunity to show what he can do, in a completely different environment.
He also admitted to reading some of the comments on Twitter from our defeat last New Years Day. Maybe he saw that football fans are a fickle bunch and that he hadn’t been shown the say respect and loyalty that he showed throughout his playing career.
Was 1/10 on then they went for some eastern European bloke. Could we have sounded him out before they got the deal done, as I'm sure Luton's approach would of happened before Pompey game given how advanced it is now
Quick summary - owners delighted Bloomfield is going so they can appoint "their" guy who presumably has been sitting waiting for a call for a few months.
If the fact Bloomfield interviewed at Millwall is correct I imagine we have sounded people out already and are a way down the line in the identity process
A club showing appreciation for their up-and-coming manager and rewarding him with a new contract? What an odd way to do business - next you'll be telling me they talk about him by name!
Maybe Bloomfield has reflected on his playing career and come to the conclusion he could've earned more money / played at a higher level if he hadn't showed so much loyalty to one club. Maybe he decided to do the opposite in his managerial career and take every opportunity he gets to move upwards. I would suggest from a cooly analytical perspective, that's a far better option than hoping the second half of our season is as successful as the first and cementing his reputation with one club.
For those doubting he'll be able to hit the road running, I think he would be able to point to his stint at Colchester to show that he can bring almost immediate results.
If he does go to Luton I expect both Kone and Morley will also be Luton players by the end of the summer.
Another silver lining - even with the transition, we have a very good chance of making the playoffs. When GA left we slipped from 7th to 9th by the end of the season. We have much more of a buffer now to still achieve something.
I love GA (I feel bad having to preface any post with that) but if a data-led approach did not validate Blooms, it will curl up into a fetal position at the "possession can do one" ethos!

@Kipper isn't Schumacher odds on to go back to Plymouth?
@Malone Yes, I read that the Luton owner was insistent that the process of 'stealing someone else's manager' was to be done properly and respectfully.
Shit. This is a very bad day.
All the best Blooms, always welcome back.
Absolutely this
Yeah, I couldn't work out the subtext of that comment either.
They appointed Miron Muslic as head coach three days ago
I agree. Not sure they expected us to do so well

Was rice at Everton the same time as Schumacher....
At least no-one is suggesting the Cowley brothers.
How Talksport have reported this
BREAKING: Wrexham given huge title boost as rivals lose manager to Luton Town
TS can’t wait to report on Wrexham “getting a boost”.
they can turn everything into a Wrexham story as do the BBC
You know something is up when you come back to about ten pages of posts.
Bloody Wrexham. Can’t wait to smash them at Adams Park as we celebrate going 10 points clear of them in the promotion race.
Didn't a commentator once pronounce JJ's last name as though it were scandi?
Sounded like 'Yakobsen'.
We could dig that out the archives and persuade the hierarchy he's actually Danish.

Football people always seem to want to pronounce surname Js as Ys, irrespective of the player's background.
reading the Birmingham forum suggesting we won’t make the playoffs now you would think someone would have done their research first obviously not.
The piece from the Sky Sports reporter said MB had asked Southgate for advice two months ago? TWO.
Imagine opening this thread expecting pages of puns and maybe some crisps chat and slowly realizing the worst has happened.
From this below I’d take Schumacher, Edwards, Sadler or Clough.

Many of those same fans on Facebook now saying "we" stood by Blooms and he is disloyal to leave. Sigh.

There's only one man for the job - Sir Gareth Ainsworth
It would take a massive meltdown to not stay in the playoffs.
But it wouldn't be impossible for a new manager to not hit the ground running.
