For devotees of Non-League football (who aren't going to Plymouth)

If you're not going to Plymouth next Saturday there's are two local Non-League matches of great interest. It's the 5th Round of the FA Vase (i.e. the last 16) on the road to Wembley. On the Hampshire/Berkshire border Hartley Wintney entertain the newly-formed Hereford FC (check if it's all-ticket or not) while in Hertfordshire Berkhamsted entertain either Morpeth or North Shields.

The 4th round tie was due to be played last Saturday but but called off due to a waterlogged pitch. It's now scheduled for Wednesday night. North Shields (the current FA Vase holders) are favourites to go through and would provide stiff opposition for Berkhamsted. The North-East clubs have a great track record in the FA Vase and prior to that the FA Amateur Cup. North Shields won the Amateur Cup in 1969 beating Sutton United 2-1 in the Final.

So if you fancy the complete opposite of the Barclays Premier League and you're not going to Devon there are a couple of very good games to watch next Saturday.

Comments

  • IMPORTANT: Hartley Wintney v Hereford
The match is ALL-TICKET with a capacity of 1,300. Hereford have sold out their allocation of 700 and only a handful of tickets remain for the home side. If you're thinking of going don't travel on Saturday without a ticket.

  • Also, Southern League Div 1 Central title contenders Chalfont St Peter host Northwood while up the road Beaconsfield SYCOB welcome AFC Rushden and Diamonds (will probably be Becky's biggest crowd of the season!). Both kick-off at 3pm.

Or if you really want something really down and dirty, Hellenic Div 1 East leaders Penn and Tylers Green host Finchampstead (KO 2.15pm).

  • VERY IMPORTANT!!!

The Morpeth v North Shields 4th Round tie has been postponed again tonight & will be played on Saturday instead. That means the FA Vase 5th Round tie Berkhamsted v Morpeth or North Shields is OFF and will probably now be played on Saturday 6th February. So no Vase game at Berkhamsted this Saturday.
