Unwisely, I made my optimistic forecast before the apparent extent of the Carabao carnage became known. But, hey ho, we have unprecedented depth in the present squad so I’ll stick to my guns.
I think, of all the casualties, the suggested seriousness of Jason McCarthy’s ‘affliction’ concerns me most because his conversion to wingback last season was such a major factor in our impressive run-in. He appeared to be suffering from cramp when he was subbed late in the game against Accrington and, when he came across to exchange applause after the final whistle, he had what looked like ice packs strapped to each calf.
Felt more precautionary than anything too serious. Seemed to be moving OK and not in any distress as he walked round outside of the pitch past our end. TBH wonder if it was a league game whether he would have carried on. Be surprised if it was anything long term.
Four more correct scores - well done chaps and chapesses - none of whom correct scored last week. So really tight at the top. Remarkably with 36 contenders, only one of us is in negative territory - take a bow for taking one (well two now) for the team @bookertease.
Same thread for those of you yet to predict Wigan.

Considering our form and Wigan predilection for conceding late winners...I am almost tempted to change my 1-1. Almost.
