Would be good for @Shev to make up Ben Jo(h)nson quotes

I am pretty much limited to mock Shakespeare, Dickens or Tolkien, unfortunately!

Just for a change, I wish a WUM would sign up with Shakesperian tendencies....

  • All quiet on the loanee signings at the moment. Hopefully we may get some Premiership youngsters. Our recent sources QPR, Brentford and Bournemouth unlikely to play ball. Sarr , Chelsea recent signing, who they say will go out on loan, plays at centre half and left back. Would be a good one to have. Plenty of experience in France.

  • I suspect Start will go to one of the Premiership newcomers but he would certainly gain plenty of experience with us in the Championship.

  • I just remembered Sam Wood was a body double for Messi, maybe he could have a word...

  • I react in the same way as @Wendoverman does to Notts Forest when people refer to the Prameer League (apologies to Pete C) as the Premiership which is for chasers of the (broadly) egg-shaped ball.

  • I do like a good Muttar Prameer from our local take-away.

  • @micra ...and for the round ball game north of the border

Yep, I should have added that.

  • Slightly confused. We were prepared to pay a fee for a player, Jonny Smith, who has yet to play for Bristol City and has done well at Oldham in League 2. Was he signing for our B team or the first team. Big step up if he was for the first team. Hopefully we are looking at more experienced players to join the existing squad to give us half a chance to stay up.

Surely by now, you know that the most uninspiring / low profile on paper signing are exactly what Gaz specialises in.

It's dream world to think we're bringing in anyone who has played 50-60 games in this division in the last season or 2.

Crazy that we're in a position to even make a bid that can be rejected. Fred excluded as it was basically a swap for McCarthy, I think Ikpeazu and McCarthy this time were our first transfer fees since Harriman in Jan 2016.

  • Smith had rave reviews from Oldham.

I'm sure our wage structure wouldnt allow us to sign established championship players, or poach players from the top of league 1. We're going to have to find players who have the ability to step up

I wonder if we are "quids in" on Millwall with all the negotiations. Was Fred cash plus Mccarthy? Wonder if we paid less to get him back than the equivalent of his weight in cash in the Fred transfer.

  • Mark McGuiness scored last night for Arsenal first team in pre-season away at MK. 19 years old 6ft 4” Centre back, raised in Gerrards Cross. Good for a loan/cover maybe?

Is this 19year old, the guy you were mentioning previously?

  • Promoted to the first team but word is they want to loan him out https://arseblog.news/2020/08/mcguinness-shows-that-persistence-pays-off/

Client confidentiality means I can neither deny nor confirm your suggestion @Malone.

  • Jonny Smith has indeed joined Swindon Town on a season long loan

  • See separate thread re : Jonny Smith
Come on , guys. Can we have some fresh news

"Unreal ability, shit attitude" was how one Posh fan summed him up - great player for them but not particularly popular for that reason. Gaz and Dobbo wouldn't go anywhere near him. Not to mention we'd never meet his wage demands.

  • Forgot to say we could sign him for free and he's only 26.
