doh... I had the B&B semi-final in mind

  • Well done Vital, it was the last year of the B&B having neutral venues for semi finals.
Ironically our first semi final in 1891 in the B&B junior cup but at their Aldermeadow ground.
We did play once more in a semi final, that was not played on the home teams ground, but not as a neutral venue.
    Any guesses ?

  • Aldermeadow was also in Marlow, sorry I forgot to add that.

  • B&B SF 74-75 against River Sports, played at Aylesbury Utd's ground?

  • Correct Steve, the Berks and Bucks advised Rivet Sports to move it to Turnfurlong Lane.

  • @ChasHarps did we play Rivet Sports twice round that time? I have in my head a clear memory of playing them (or similar sort of team) I think they were in white at a ground that definitely wasn’t Turnfurlong Lane

  • We played them again the following year at Turnfurlong, After our 7-1 win in 75, we only managed a 6-2 win in 1976.
Interestingly in the Rivets side of 76, Was Floydd Streete, who later signed for Cambridge, but made his name in that Wolves side that featured the deadly duo Steve Bull and Andy Mutch up front.

  • Thanks @ChasHarps my memory playing tricks again. In my head the ground had a large building or wall along one side of the pitch that you couldn’t stand alongside. A bit like Leytonstone but without the strange angle. Quite likely dreamt it up tho

  • So was there an answer to the Quick Quiz?

  • Read the thread, it's really not that difficult or time consuming.

  • Well done Vital it's those extra strong mints that inspired you !
