FA Cup 1st Round Draw

For Monday's draw the last (odd) team left in the hat due to Bury's demise will receive a bye to the next round.

No news yet on the implications this will have on FA Cup poetry if WWFC are last out.

  • Does the team that gets the bye receive a winning teams prize money or do they miss out on that as well as the potential gate money and other takings?

  • They get the winners prize money.

  • We're Ball number 47 I see so anything is possible but some football fortune would be brilliant.

  • Haringey Borough away please.

Bye or, failing that, winner of Maidenhead v Wealdstone away.

  • Great but wouldn't we do better financially with a home tie?

  • Tbf, we are due a home first round tie - I don't think we've had one for six years?

  • A non league team we've either never played or not played for yonks, away from home.
Obvs not a quality top of the league outfit.

Hopefully not someone we play in the league.

Win Saturday, and we're in effect the hardest team anyone can draw :)

  • It’ll be Fleetwood away.

    Tell that to Stevenage.

  • I'd rather have a non league team at home... stuff giving them home advantage

  • Weymouth away, we could converge on that Wanderers hotel on the sea front.
Or Poole Town, its a great shame they dont play at the Poole greyhound/speedway stadium anymore.

  • Thinking about this first round bye for someone, wouldn't it have been better to allow a lucky loser through from the 4th Qualifying Round, and give another Non-league side much-needed gate revenue?

  • TBH the revenue is very much needed in L2 and L1, possibly more so i some cases.

  • @Last_Quarter This was done when Man United shunned the Cup to compete in the World Club Championship. Personally I would take the bye as you are guaranteed the tie in the next round (with a likely better gate) and a higher chance of progressing to later rounds (and of course winning the Cup).

  • Roll on someone interesting that we never usually play.

  • Oxford City away if they make it through - historical rivals, memories of that 3-match tie 20 years ago and, most importantly, ten minutes from my house.

  • Yeovil away for me as it's less than 25 miles from me plus i'd get a lift from a mate who is a Yeovil season ticket holder.

  • My local team - oh please no (it’s Franchise ) ?

  • My birth town team is Royston Town FC who if they beat Maldon and Tiptree on Saturday will be hosting the draw on Monday night, which is being shown live on BBC2.
I would love to go back there with WWFC.

  • So many free Saturdays now with Bury gone and international breaks so I wouldn't be keen on a bye. Knowing our recent cup luck we could get a bye and still get knocked out

  • This is the season for a decent run...except for Liverpool and possibly City I'd fancy us to get something from any of the top 12

  • Just to make everyone feel really positive - it could be Plymouth away.

  • We’d stuff them

  • As things stand we're the second highest ranked club in the draw...

  • I have a premonition that we'll be drawn against Oldham Athletic, but no idea whether home or away.

Why don't they put a 'bye' ball in the hat so that the team that are drawn to play the bye, get the bye. It is after all a random draw.

  • Or even better, an eye ball. This would attract younger fans who embrace the US commercialisation of Halloween
