Non-League Play-Off picture (& well done Marlow!!!)

This coming week sees a whole host of Non-League play-off games. Particular congratulations must go to Marlow FC who secured a play-off spot in the Bostik (Isthmian) League South Central division.

In the National League AFC Fylde host Harrogate Town on Wednesday while Eastleigh visit Wrexham on Thursday. The winners then go on to play Solihull Moors and Salford City next Saturday & Sunday respectively. The winners of those 2 games will compete for a place in the EFL at Wembley on Saturday 11th March (3pm).

In the National League North it’s Altrincham v Blyth on Wednesday and Spennymoor v Bradford PA on Thursday. The winners will then travel to Chorley and Brackley respectively on Sunday 5th May.

In the National League South an incredible set of results saw Wealdstone sneak into the last play-off spot, with Billericay, St Albans and Dartford missing out. Concord Rangers have been disqualified from entering the play-offs as their ground has an insufficient (500) number of seats. Therefore, Chelmsford City get a bye. On Wednesday night Bath City host Wealdstone, the winners of which travel to Wkoing. The other semi-final is Welling United v Chelmsford City (Sunday 5th May).

The Bostik (Isthmian) League has some very good games in prospect. On Thursday it,s Carshalton v Merstham and Haringey v Tonbridge Angels in the Premier Division with the final on Bank Holiday Monday at the ground of the highest-placed club.

Marlow travel to Cheshunt in their semi-final on Tuesday evening while Bracknell play Westfield in the other semi-final. The final is on Saturday 4th May. Sadly, if Marlow get through to play Westfield the final would be at 3pm on Saturday. Do you think they could bring it forward to 2pm to allow Wycombe supporters to go (bearing in mind Wycombe v Fleetwood is a 5.30 k.o. )?

  • Little shout out to Tavistock Town, my local club, who came with a remarkable run to win their league and now get promotion to play the big time Charlie’s in the Western League. Well done Sexy Lambs.

  • Interesting to note that Tafari Moore was in the Plymouth Argyle Reserves team that got thumped 1 - 4 by Tavistock on Saturday. It's a bit disappointing to see a player who looked like he had good potential when playing for Wycombe during our promotion season now playing down at the 10th level of the football pyramid.

Another ex-Wycombe loanee, Lionel Ainsworth, played for Argyle Reserves in that match also.

  • Hang on. Argyll reserves play in an actual non league division?

  • Plymouth Argyle Reserves have been playing in the South West Peninsula League for the past few seasons, but apparently this season was the last and they have left at the end of it.

  • Argyle play a standard reserve team in the central league which most Lg1 level teams play in. The SWPL team was mainly for the youth players to get experience playing against men. Saturdays team against tavi though apparently had seven professionals playing yet Tavi still won 4-1 to clinch their league. I understand Argyle are dropping a level for this team for next season to play in the Devon County League.

  • Just like their first team are dropping a level.

  • I suspect Plymouth will stay up and Southend go down.
