One to Anticipate - Sunderland (H) - Attendance predictions + discussion - Match 36 on Sat 9th March

Here is the link to the spreadsheet - usually to found at the top of the thread.

I would be interested to know if forecasters follow the link to see their prediction and those of others. This week I should be able to update it as the game approaches.

I go 8344 with 2810 from Sunderland.

  • With it being an All Ticket match and 8300 sold so far, I suspect many are waiting until Saturday to post their estimates.
You "went early" @railwaysteve as you always do, and credit for that, but I fear it's done you no favours in the guessing game that is crowd prediction.

  • As I am almost always wrong anyway....9120 with 2544 people who don't like being called Geordies.

  • @Twizz - I agree that it is an advantage to post as late as possible, especially for this game. However, just on the outside chance that this happens, no more predictions count from the point that I post on this thread that we have sold our full allocation - a rule brought in after the Luton away game in the league.

Funny thing - if it happened for Saturday - our attendance for that game would be bigger than their average home gate for the season so far.

    Should be fun on Saturday.

  • 8999 including 2666 Mackems.

  • 8,871 including 2,699 away

  • I'll go early(ish). 9035 including 2697 Black Cats.

  • 8995 with 2697 Black Cats

  • 8,888 with 2,818 Mackems

  • 8,889 (2,689 away)

  • 9,100 with 2,890 Sunderland please.

  • The good thing is we get this game in just before Brexit. I fear Mackem fans might not have as much spending cash for football this time next year!

  • 8875 with 2698 away.

  • 9211with 2728 Sunderland

  • Wednesday evening and 11 forecasts so far:

    Average for Total Crowd: 8938
    Average for Black Cats 2721

70% of the crowd ours - 30% visitors for us to entertain.

    Up the Blues.

Please note: In the event that we do sell out, then once I have posted to that effect on this thread, no more predictions to count.

  • 8998 including 2693 from Sunderland.

  • I'm going to go high with 9,358, of which 2,700 will be in the away end er.. half of the ground.

  • 8765, 2726 away

  • 8,987, with 2,728 in the away half of AP.

  • 8950 including 2650 Sunderland.

  • 8700, with 2500.

  • 8920 including 2728 Sunderland

  • 8,942 with 2,708 Sunderland.

  • 9229 with 2662 from Sunderland

  • 9,078 total with 2728 Sunderland

  • 2728 for the Soonerlan’ component seems to be a popular choice. Can I amend my original figure @railwaysteve ?

There's quite a sizeable proportion of Sunderland fans who are Geordies and don't mind being called that.

    9111 with 2700 Mackems/Geordies.

  • Regardless of the result tomorrow, I think it will be a brilliant occasion and its what everyone at WWFC has worked so hard to achieve over the last 5 years.

We've earned the right to play Sunderland, and to have a sell out crowd.

  • I agree wholeheartedly. I certainly won't hold back from loudly booing if we go a goal down early on though.

  • It’s the manner of going a goal down that frustrates . You jest though, I’m sure @YorkExile, when you talk of booing.
