  • Not as one sided as it sounds, New Milton were no pushover and they made Wycombe work hard and probably scored the best goal, a 25+ yarder from their left winger. New Milton were one of the better Premier Division sides last season, this season they have a record of W1, D1, L4

In Tara Woodward and Chante Inniss, Wycombe have two very good finishers. Tara now has 30 goals this season from 13 games in all competitions, easily the highest in the two Southern Region divisions. Another player who caught my eye today was Natalie Barrette, nicknamed "Rocky", she is a real rock in midfield. Little gets past her and she sets up countless attacked.

The Chairgirls now meet Southampton FC in the semi-final, venue unknown. They won 9-0 in their tie at Wargrave, a team the Chairgirls beat 5-0 away just before Christmas. Southampton lead the division above with seven wins out of seven, so it will be a very difficult game.

Next week Wycombe have a league game at home to Eastleigh, who are going well with a 5-1-2 record.

A mention for the two U-18 teams in the Thames Valley Counties League. The 'A' team have won all eight league games and are very highly rated. Their details are here:

  • Thanks for the updates @Steve_Peart .. much appreciated

  • Great work Steve!

  • Thanks @Steve_Peart, great to see us doing so well.

  • The league cup semi-final against Southampton will be at home on 24 Feb, a good one to watch. On the same day Abingdon Utd host Oxford City in the other semi.

On 17 Feb, in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup semi-final, the Chairgirls host MK Dons, who play at tier three, three divisions above.

  • The Chairgirls take on Eastleigh Ladies today, 2pm at Flackwell College, Spring Lane, HP10 9HE.

This should be a close game against a team pushing for promotion. I can't make this game but first updates will be on Twitter (@wycombeladies).

Tara Woodward discusses the season so far, in an interview this week: https://www.wycombewanderers.co.uk/news/2019/january/tara-talks-through-ladies-successful-season-so-far/

  • Good win today, from WWLFC Twitter:
"Clean sweep for the whole club this weekend with Wycombe Wanderers Ladies topping it off with a 5-0 win against Eastleigh. Goals came from Boro (2), Woodward, Ball and Newberry."

    From ELFC Twitter:
"Wycombe Wanderers 5-0 Eastleigh Ladies. A comfortable 3 points for Wycombe Wanderers. Very few chances for Eastleigh, we couldn’t break down a very strong back line from Wycombe who scored some wonderful goals today."

  • Wycombe go top, three points clear of Moneyfields who had no game today and have three games in hand. Basingstoke Town lost 9-1 won at home to Abingdon Utd, who are six points behind the Chairgirls, also with three games in hand.

In the only other game, Shanklin drew 2-2 at home to Wargrave. Wycombe host Shanklin next Sunday, on the same day Moneyfields host Abingdon Utd.

  • Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @Uncle_T. The Chairgirls are very keen to get a main sponsor to help with their expenses. It costs £120 to hire the 3G pitch for their home matches, currently paid for out of their subs. They also have considerable fuel costs to cover, with most of their opponents based some way south.

  • The kick-off for tomorrow's home league match against Shanklin has been brought forward to 12:30pm, at Flackwell Heath College, Spring Lane HP10 9HE. No doubt to accommodate the visitors' ferry crossings.

The crowdfunding appeal has now reached £400 out of the target £2000.

  • HT WW 7-0 Shanklin. Their keeper has made several brilliant saves.

  • FT WW 10-0 Shanklin

  • Sounds like they belong in a higher division.

  • Scorers, if I remember correctly: Christina O'Connor (lovely 25 yard free kick), Chante Inniss (2), Tara Woodward (3), Natalie Barrette, og, Rachel Southby, Emma Newberry.

    Some clips:

Next Sunday the Chairgirls make the retun journey to Shanklin.

The match between Moneyfields and Abingdon Utd today isn't taking place, Moneyfields have a cup game. So the Chairgirls are six clear of Moneyfields, nine clear of Abingdon, both of whom have four games in hand.

  • @Vital, they do but three very good teams are challenging for one or two promotion places. Hopefully the two divisions are reorganised so that all three end up going up.

  • Should send this link to that Plymouth guy on the other thread. He is looking for entertainment that his side obviously aren’t providing

  • The Chairgirls have had to postpone their match at Shanklin on Sunday due to travel conditions.

Were they busy with the Superbowl?

  • The league match at Eastleigh on Sunday has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

  • After a two week break due to the weather, the Chairgirls are back in action, tomorrow, Sunday, at home to holders MK Dons Ladies in the semi-final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup. 2pm at Flackwell College, Spring Lane.

Your support is needed because this could hardly be a tougher fixture. The Donkeys play in the National League Southern Premier Division, the third tier of the pyramid, three levels above the Chairgirls. Although they have a disappointing league record, W4 D1 L8, and have lost their last four games, the Donkeys will expect to win this comfortably. The Chairgirls, however, have a very good team spirit and some talented players, and will be sure to give their all!

  • HT WWL 0-1 MKDL, goal after 33 mins, 15 yard shot, Donkeys in control but Chairgirls defending superbly, not allowing them space around the box.

  • FT WWL 0-3 MKDL, two late goals, in 80th and 90th minutes, made the score a little flattering for the Donkeys.

The Chairgirls had a much better 2nd half, getting forward more. Tara had two good chances when the score was still 1-0 but was thwarted both times by the keeper. The defence made sure that the Donkeys had few clear chances, Katie Hudson outstanding and keeper Amy Batkin made an astonishing point blank save from a thunderbolt of a shot.

A very good turnout, must have been well over a hundred here.

  • So a very good performance overall by the Chairgirls as they made the Donkeys work really hard for their win. The teams didn't look three levels different, more like one.

Today's game will give them confidence for another very hard game next Sunday, a league cup semi-final against Southampton FC, affiliated to the men's club - not to be confused with Southampton Women's FC, whose development team play in the Chairgirls' league. Southampton FC are in the division above and have won all ten of their league games. The match will be played on the 3G pitch at Bisham Abbey, 2pm k.o. It's being played there because the Flackwell pitch is unavailable.

Meanwhile, in the league, Moneyfields have taken over at the top, three points clear with a game in hand. This after a 6-0 win at Alton last week, and a 14-0 win at Wokingham & Emmbrook today. Abingdon Utd won 6-0 at home to Alton today and are six points behind, in third place, with three games in hand. The Chairgirls host Moneyfields on 10 March.

Congratulations to the U18 side who have beaten Maidenhead 2-1 to reach the final of the B & B Girls U18 Cup. They will play Caversham in the final.

  • Tomorrow, Sunday, the Chairgirls take on high flying Southampton in the league cup semi-final at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, Marlow Road, SL71RR, 2pm k.o. on the 3G pitch.

The forecast is a lovely, sunny afternoon so, if you haven't been before, it's a very picturesque setting, next to the River Thames, worth making time to have a look around. Their site says the cafe will be open until 6pm.

  • HT, Chairgirls 5-0 down, conceded to a free kick after 2 minutes, top corner curler, and have been penned in their own half, apart from rare breakaways. Some clinical finishing by the Saints. No Tara today, Chante on her own up front.

  • FT Chairgirls 0-6 Saints. A much better second half by Wycombe, spending a lot more time in their opponent's half, closing them down more. They kept going to the end, showing impressive fitness levels. There is a very good spirit about the team.

Southampton are a very good team, better then MK Dons, very sharp, technically proficient, excellent finishers.

There was another good turnout of Wycombe fans in their colours, many I haven't seen before. Next week the Chairgirls are away to Alton in the the league.

On the neighbouring grass pitches were women's U-21 matches between Reading and Chelsea, Brighton and Bristol Rovers. Also staying at Bisham were the England and USA U-17 girls teams, playing two matches against each other. England won the first on pens after a 2-2 draw.

  • A 6-1 league win for the Chairgirls in the rain at Alton today, 4-0 at half-time. They go level on points with Moneyfields, who have two games in hand and did not play today. Abingdon United were also without a game today and are nine behind with four in hand.

Next Sunday it's the big one as Moneyfields are the visitors at Flackwell College in the league.

  • Two big matches in one weekend. It’s all too much!
