Of all the Sky cocommentators, if that’s the correct word, Alan Smith is up there with the best. Always measured, thoughtful and knowledgeable.
There is so much faux excitement/hysteria/verbal diarrhoea from many co-commentators these days that I often turn on the mute. The Sky+ commentators are often (understandably perhaps) too detached and monotonous.
I’m sure Gunner Smith will be very interesting and entertaining.
Right there with you on this @micra - I've noticed a trend recently where the commentators seem desperate to say something iconic or memorable that they think will go down in history like "there's, some people are on the pitch...", forgetting that they're commentating on Southampton vs Leicester or something equally drab.

Shouldn’t say this I suppose but I agree with your every word.
He's got a solid accent too

This is why I find Peter Drury so hard to listen to. Not everything is EPIC.
Drury gets a lot of love as a commentator and there’s no doubt he’s an old school pro, but I agree - it’s all a bit tortured for me.
Did you forget to wear your hard hat?
I’m really struggling for a rational explanation for your comments that doesn’t include something heavy falling at height onto an unprotected head.
Is he the idiot that shouts "AND IT'S LIVE" just as Sky goes into their 15th advert break of the hour?
Lol that was Martin Tyler
He can get in the sea as well then.
He's retired I think, certainly doesn't do Sky anymore
I once heard someone say that Peter Drury has the highest xG of any commentator, which made me chuckle
