Regarding “little Wycombe” it’s interesting that the Exeter management team have us in a group with Birmingham and Huddersfield for “big teams who get those decisions”. (BBC Sport article)
The size, playing style, reputation and funding of our club has always been directly linked in opposition manager interviews to wether or not we've won.
Same. Academy lot could prove useful though. U18s stormed the U18 PL last season and are doing even better this year. Those that stepped up to the PL2 are also doing OK in 6th but missing their better players who are out on loan elsewhere.
Unless we build a new stadium and find 20-30K regular fans from somewhere, I think we will always be "little Wycombe". The money just makes us "Rich little Wycombe."
For instance, I still see Bournemouth as a small club, and they have spent a lot of time in the PL and have a billionaire owner. It does not make them massive.
As far as I am aware, Mikhail (or anyone else) could write out a cheque for £100m as a gift to buy Rashfod, but the club would be stuffed paying his wages on our turnover. I may be talking bollocks.
I was under the impression that in league one our owner can give the club as much money as he wants... as long as its a gift. But he can't do that in the Championship
As I understand it we can spend a set percentage of our income on player related costs.
I think its 60 per cent but not certain.
However, in addition, 100 per cent of some income can be spent on players and this includes money earned from transfers and cup prize money. It also includes money donated/invested by owners/directors.
Therefore, “Lommy” could, theoretically, write the club a cheque for £100m and we could spend it all on players. However, there hasn’t yet been any sign that he intends to do so.
However, the new rules agreed before Xmas will start to limit the ability of owners to invest in this way.
Bromley certainly done well with their loan signings this season much like Wycombe. Maybe if Bromley lose one or two of them (been talk of Millwall recalling Kamarl Grant too) then one or two fringe Chairboys could go there. Al-Hamidi didn't do too badly there albeit didn't stand out enough to prevent being offloaded to AFC Wimbledon, where he really took flight, but could be worth thinking about now they're flying in League Two and in top form.

Hmmmm…

I'd hope all teams are in the same bracket for very obvious handballs.
Ooops - days, sorry!
Must type slower, and keep the connection between (what's left of) my brain and fingers intact!

Not even gonna mention you missed an absolutely critical "un" out of how likely you thought it'd be Morley stayed ;0
I wasn't sure for a sec!
Nobody thought Gretna FC was a big club when they made it to the Scottish Premiership and cup final.
Then their rich owner got ill and.........
Haha - I did see that and changed it to 'Go' instead of 'Stay'.
(Sends vitamins and immunity boosting medicinals to Lommy in the mail).
So what exactly are the FFP rules related to our level? I thought spending restrictions were much more relaxed for clubs below the Championship.

The ref has always given us everything and the opposition nothing, I've read it on a lot of fan forums...

I just drove past a sign for Morley. I couldn't make up my mind whether I was pleased to see it or not.
Simple as dat.
I just passed a sign for 'The Championship'. It's all good.
But were you heading towards it or away from it?
Past it, which means we're going straight to the Prem
I'm buying into this. Forget glass not even a sip full.
Exactly!
80+ new comments and not a single rumour 😔
One of our talked about targets Danny Imray, named in the Bromley team for tonight’s game against Gillingham.
Here's an existing rumour being given legs by one Gareth Ainsworth. This is a couple of weeks old, and I had no idea he had confirmed the interest.
Causing all kinds of problems for Gillingham too from the sounds of things. Wonder if he'd be a loanee or permanent signing if a move was made.
Well he won’t have far to move if he does join us Bromley to Harlington.
