It's all looking quite tidy. The triallist route is excellent - and it cannot have gone unnoticed by any potentials, how players get really involved here.
People malign that Checkatrade cup, but it's a good vehicle to getting players a runout. That may well be the place these new guys get their first blooding.
Some of the younger ones looked a bit shaky in defence when yesterday, wouldn't expect to see them leaned on too heavily for the first couple of months unless we get injuries.

I just hope that amongst the new lads are a couple who will be prepared to get stuck in if there's a repeat of the Sunderland situation at any point.
Bean and Tyson are huge losses in this respect
We've still got Bayo and El Abd, which is fairly tasty.

yeah, I reckon Curtis could hold his hands up if needed as well. You can never have too many such players though, and most successful sides are full of them. Look at O'Neill's Wycombe sides. Jam packed full of blokes you'd want on your side if push came to shove
Jamie! Jamie!
Jamie and the Magic Touch.
Down the helter skelter, faster and faster
To the Championship.
Giles! Giles!
Following hard behind.
Ready for adventure, always there to lend hand
Bayo and all the others too,
The strangest people you've ever seen.
And Ainsworth with his magical team,
If I hadn't really been there
I'd think that I was dreaming!
Jamie! Jamie!
No two matches are the same.
And life is one long glorious game
Up to the top with Jamie,
Jamie and the Magic Touch!
Switch on!
The Lake District Laureate always had a soft spot for theme tunes from BBC children's programming as he wandered about like a cloud I understand. And of course his epic poem 'Down Shep!' is always a delight.

At least we now have a ready made obscure nickname for him, can we make ‘Battery Boy’ stick??

There's a chance a chant like that might sound somewhat un-pc!

I disagree that JJ has ever been a liability. Defensive play has never been his greatest strength, but he offers so much in other areas. I think you’ve written him off too soon.

Those were tremendous scenes in touch last season

@LX1 I believe Tyson managed to land one right on the touch

The football may not be pretty and we may not have much money...but we can mix it up once the first punch is thrown. Huzzah!
yep, got a taster with that scrap with Allsop.
Start shooting your mouth off in the bistros of Marlow and you'll find out quick enough
Jamie Mascoll must be wondering at this point what he’s let himself in for.
Wordsworth will appear from under the bed and shine a light on it
Prefer the pome.
I generally prefer drupes @micra.
A permanent state for me @mooneyman.

And as promised Wordsworth re-born did indeed appear from under the bed where all day he’d hid and shone a shimmering light on all we’d said.
Jamie re-assured by the words of the nordic bard.
@LX1 Excellent stuff.
Genius.

Whole world’s gone mad
A profile on the new left-back: https://chairboyscentral.com/2019/07/28/new-blue-jamie-mascoll/

Liability may be too strong a word but there is no denying that the lack of pace on that left side of our back four looked very vulnerable at times.
@glasshalffull - Strange view that a weakness in a players defensive ability is not important for a defender!
JJ is the best left back we've ever had. People need to have a bit more respect (and knowledge about football)
I did wonder about that myself! Bigging up a player by admitting he's not good in the ara of the team he plays in!?
Like when you'd say a striker isn't good at scoring goals, but contributes.
Actually that's a can of worms itself!
