Staying on the city theme (not related to boundaries), can you name cities that have homed league football teams but no longer do. Just in case there are examples from the vey early days, lets limit it to post war.
this years fa cup third round will be special. A feature of it has only happened once before since the current format was adopted and that was nearly 70 years ago. What?
Very possibly Chris. It would take time to map Liverpool Everton 3rd rd cup history and map it against their league status and of course the similar history and status of Birmingham and villa (but not of course West Brom) who also qualify. I'll leave you to do that - I have postcodes to learn.
The answer I was looking for was Mooney's, first time in nearly 70 years no non league clubs (even one is rare). Bit of a shame really.
Just sat very bored and browsed how many league clubs I have visited following WW. Whilst I have a few of the 92 to visit I think there is 12 that you couldn't have seen play the Chairboys in a competitive match.
Newcastle, Sunderland, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Arsenal, Man Utd, Derby County, Hull City for nine purely off the top of my head, although I wonder if Hull is incorrect.
Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd, Newcastle, Derby, Ipswich, Sunderland, Bolton and Blackburn are the only teams we haven't played a competitive match against.
@Kimble_Blue I don't recall us ever playing Crystal Palace. Does this mean Jonny King has partial redemption, or should I be equally appalled with my own shocking memory?
Nope your right @LeedsBlue, missed one, doh. Played them in friendlies but not competitive and of course one of our greatest nights was at Selhurst Park but of course that was against Wimbledon.
@Kimble_Blue@LeedsBlue we played Crystal Palace in the Southern League 2nd division in 1905/6, the first season of their existence. They beat us twice on the way to winning the league, we finished bottom.

York is an obvious one for starters
... and Chester
... and does your interesting use of the verb "to home" (about which @micra may well have something to say) mean you are counting Bath?
York , chester and bath all hosted or homed league football indeed. Not done yet.
Hereford?
Indeed Leeds. In the league and out again twice in fact.
I think that's all.
Hosted versus homed? I’m sorry I haven’t a clue.

Polished during a total eclipse of the moon?
No non league clubs
To the previous question: Halifax?
All of the top flight clubs based in the same city play each other in the first round.
Bugger, sorry -Town obviously.
Third round of course.

Do you know what the answer was to my question @DevC ?
I have genuinely forgotten the answer or have got the question wrong and i'm too pissed to look it up

Hull isn't right either
Ipswich?

Forest Green Rovers would have been on the list at the start of September.

A season that started so brightly. Not that I was there, don’t you know.
Great spot @CarrotPeeler
