The Chairgirls lost the return match 4-1 at Moneyfields today, Tara with the goal, 2-0 at HT.

Next Sunday they play at Regents Park Rangers in the FA Cup.

In Division One, the Development side lost 3-2 at home to Bournemouth Sports this afternoon, so have also lost their opening two league games.

  • On Sunday the Chairgirls travel to Regents Park Rangers for an FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie.

The venue is London Marathon Pavillion, Barn Elms Playing Fields, SW13 9SA, ko 2pm. It's opposite the WWT London Wetland Centre, which opens at 9:30 am if anyone fancies taking in some wildlife before the game.

This season's Women's FA Cup Prize Fund is as follows:

Round - Winning club - Losing club

    Extra Preliminary Round (10) £300 £75
    Preliminary Round (98) £360 £90
    First Round Qualifying (49) £400 £100
    Second Round Qualifying (48) £450 £115
    Third Round Qualifying (24) £600 £150
    First Round (12) £850 £215
    Second Round (18) £1,000 £250
    Third Round (9) £1,250 £315
    Fourth Round (16) £2,000 £500
    Fifth Round (8) £3,000 £750
    Sixth Round (4) £4,000 £1,000
    Semi-Final (2) £5,000 £1,250
    Final (1) £25,000 £15,000

  • Wow. That prize money is depressing.

  • Yes, an indication of where the game is at present. In spite of the big viewing figures for the World Cup, the game is not well supported yet on matchday, especially at our level.

  • FT Regents Park Rangers 0-3 Wycombe Ladies. Goals from Newberry, Jackson and Hudson.

  • Well done ladies!

  • It's Whyteleafe or Worthing at home in the 2nd Qualifying Round.

  • The Chairgirls will be pleased with that draw.

Whyteleafe Women play in the London & South East Regional Premier Division, step five, same as the Chairgirls. They lost their Preliminary Round tie at home to Millwall Lionesses, 3-6, but were re-instated after Millwall were removed from the competition following a breach of the rules.

Worthing FC Women play in the South East Counties Women’s Football League Premier Division, step 6 according to their web site.

Whyteleafe host Worthing in the delayed 1st Qualifying Round tie this Sunday, the winners at Wycombe on Sunday 6 October.

On Sunday the Chairgirls are away to Oxford City in the league, on the 3G pitch at Marsh Lane, Marston.

  • The Chairgirls have the opportunity to get some league points on the board when they take on Oxford City Women on Sunday at Marsh Lane, Marston OX3 0NQ. Kick-off 2pm. There are two full sized 3G pitches there, I'm not sure which one it will be on.

Hopefully the bar, or at least the tea bar, will be open. I plan to be there, it's closer for me than their home games.

Oxford City have drawn two and lost one in the league so far, and lost 5-2 in the FA Cup at Ashford Town.

  • HT Oxford City 0-2 Wycombe.

The Chairgirls suffered a big blow in the opening minutes, Christina O'Connor going off with a knee injury. Moments later the Chairgirls went ahead, Sam Jackson unmarked and shooting home inside the box. Tara Woodward scored the second goal just before HT, a shot from the edge of area, possibly with a slight deflection.

The Chairgirls have had the better of the play, pressing forward at every opportunity, Oxford with just one tame shot on target. The Chairgirls seem to have a new 4-3-3 formation, Tara flanked by impressive new signing Sam Jackson on the left and Emily Holmes on the right, giving Tara more support than last season. Emma Newberry has moved from right back to midfield.

  • FT Oxford City 0-2 Wycombe. More to follow.

  • After the break City came out with more intent, Amy Batkin having to scramble away a free kick, and there was a header off the line. The Chairgirls made a halftime sub, Chante Inniss coming on, for who I'm not sure. It meant Sam Jackson dropped to midfield, Emma Newberry to right back, it seemed to unsettle them for a while. Amy was busy in goal but the Chairgirls defended really well and, as the half wore on, increasingly had chances to score a third.

It was an impressive performance and now that I have seen them beat a good side, I am confident they can more than hold their own in this division. As ever, I am impressed with their commitment, spirit and fitness. That has to be worth a goal a game!

    Some videos:

There were about 50 watching. It was so nice to see them play in a proper stadium, with the clubhouse and tea bar open!

  • Thanks for the posts, Steve.

  • For the second weekend running, the men's and women's teams have won. The Dev team also won today in D1 South, 2-0 at Alton for their first points of the season. Good times!

Today I note the Chairgirls were wearing the new yellow Dormeo change strip. Thanks to the club and sponsors for kitting them out, and them not having to wear an old strip as they did last season.

In the FA Cup today, Worthing Women won 1-0 at Whyteleafe Women. So next Sunday the Chairgirls host Worthing in the FA Cup at Flackwell.

  • Cheers Steve, top updates

  • The Chairgirls play Worthing FC Women on Sunday in the FA Cup 2QR. Kick-off 2pm at the Bucks College Group Wycombe Campus, Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath, HP10 9HE.

Worthing won 3-2 at Pagham in the PR and caused a small shock to win 1-0 at Whyteleafe in the last round, a step 5 club (same as Wycombe), one step higher than them. Sara Tubby scored the 70th minute winner, and she and Gemma Worsfold have been bulging the onion bag this season. I hope I don't have to mention their names again.

Worthing top the South East Counties Prem with two wins, 6-0 and 7-0, it should be a tight match so your support would be appreciated. The weather forecast is a 50/50 chance of rain from 2-4pm, so bring your wet weather gear!

  • HT Chairgirls 3-0 Worthing.

Even first 20 minutes, then a cross from Sam Jackson (I think) was helped into the net by the keeper. Sam then added a second with a 25 yard free kick under the crossbar, and Tara Woodward pounced on a defensive hesitation for the third.

  • FT Chairgirls 3-1 Worthing.

The visitors pulled one back after 60 minutes with a 30 yard shot over Amy's head, nothing she could do about that. Worthing then had most of the play and Amy was the busier of the keepers, one superb save, clawing away a corner bound shot. She also had to twice dive bravely at a forward's feet, once getting hurt.

Tara had the best of the few chances after the break, rounding the keeper late on but just shooting wide.

A good win against a difficult team to break down, the draw for the 3QR is tomorrow.

  • The FA Cup win today was worth £450, bringing their total winnings so far this season to £1210. Although small compared to the equivalent in the men's FA Cup, it is a big sum for the club, it covers the 3G pitch hire for 10 games.

All three Chairgirls teams won today. The Development team had a great 2-1 win at AFC Bournemouth CST Dev, and the U18s beat Barton United 3-1 in the league at home.

Next Sunday in the league the Chairgirls host AFC Bournemouth CST, who won 3-2 in the FA Cup today at Swindon Town, and have won all three of their league games this season.

  • The Chairgirls have been drawn away to Chesham United in the 3QR, to be played on Sunday 27 October. A tough draw, they play in the league above, but at least it's local.

Next up for the Chairgirls are AFC Bournemouth CST in the league on Sunday. Kick-off 2pm at Bucks College Group Wycombe Campus, Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath, HP10 9HE.

Bournemouth have had an impressive start to the season, three wins out of three in the league - Woodley 3-1, Ascot 3-1 and Abingdon Utd 2-1. Three FA Cups wins as well - Feniton 5-0, New Milton Town 10-0 and a very good 3-2 win at Swindon last Sunday. Swindon are one league above at step 4.

So this will be yet another hard game for the Chairgirls, they welcome your support as ever.

A new signing for the Chairgirls has been announced tonight, 24 yearr old midfielder Lindsay Pinker from Oxford City WFC. I wonder if Lindsay is a replacement for the injured Christina O'Connor. Sad to see her on crutches at the game on Sunday.

  • HT Chairgirls 0-1 Bournemouth.

Goal direct from corner off back post after 3 mins, but it wasn't a corner! Lino gave goal kick, I could see it was from down the other end, Chairgirls complained loudly to no avail. Then a minute later Wycombe rattled the post from a free kick, video here:

Overall it's been a very even game, a midfield battle, few chances, so the Chairgirls are playing well to keep Bournemouth quiet.

Big blow on 30 minutes when Sam Jackson went off injured. Shortly after Bournemouth made two subs, for tactically reasons it seems, so that shows how well Wycombe are playing.

    FT Chairgirls 0-1 Bournemouth.

Second half was even as well, few chances at either end. Sarah Harrison hit the bar from a corner, here:

Tara chipped onto the roof of the bet with the keeper out of the goal. Amy Batkin saved well in a one on one, Bournemouth's only real chance after the break. Captain Charlotte Bagshaw was sin binned in the closing minutes, for something said after a foul not given.

So, we was robbed, a corner that wasn't, a draw would have been a fair result. Bournemouth are one of, if not, the favourites for the title so it's heartening to know the Chairgirls can match the best.

Next Sunday Wycombe are at home to Ascot United in the league.

  • Ascot United Ladies visit the Chairgirls for a league match on Sunday. Kick-off 2pm at Bucks College Group Wycombe Campus, Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath, HP10 9HE.

The Yellawomen are manager Dave Ward's old team, finishing sixth out of ten in this division last season. So far this term they have lost all three league games, 3-1 at Bournemouth, 4-2 at Newbury and 5-0 at home to Moneyfields, but they did beat Newbury 4-3 in the League Cup. In the FA Cup PR they lost 3-2 at home to Abingdon Town, one level below them.

Good luck to the Development team who are away to Great Linford Dev in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup 1R on Sunday, ko 2pm. This morning the U18s are at home to Tattenhoe in the league at the ASM Stadium, Thame at 10am.

  • HT Chairgirls 3-0 Ascot, belter shot from Sam Jackson on 13 mins, a second from her a minute later, shooting home on the angle, and Tara picking up a spilled ball by the keeper on 30 mins, to put Wycombe in complete control. Plenty of long range shots being aimed at quite a short keeper, mostly going wide.

    First and third goals:

  • FT Chairgirls 4-0 Ascot.

Wycombe didn't let up after the break but some good defending by Ascot, and some wayward shooting, only saw one more goal. Ascot did have three good chances themselves in the second half, but another hard working performance by the Chairgirls made this a comfortable win.

  • I meant to add that Emma Newberry scored the fourth:

That's the last home game for a while, next week the Chairgirls have that big FA Cup game away to Chesham United for a place in the First Round. More on that nearer the time but it will be played at The Meadow.

The Dev team had a 12-0 (twelve) win at Great Linford in the B & B Junior Cup today. Yesterday the U18s lost 2-1 at home to Tattenhoe.
