  • The goalscorers on Sunday were Charlotte Bagshaw and Lindsay Pinker.

    From Football in Berkshire:

Martin Elcox of Eversley & California – “Firstly, so incredibly proud of the performance. The effort we put in was outstanding. We held them until 2 minutes before half time and then a momentary lack of concentration let them in. We then equalised, which the ladies thoroughly deserved, with 17 minutes to go, and then Wycombe were awarded a very dubious penalty for handball, which proved to be the winner.

Yes, we rode our luck a bit, but if you had asked me before the game if I thought with 10 minutes to go that we would be pressing for an equaliser against a Southern Region Prem side, then I would have snapped your hand off! Undoubtedly they are a better side, fitter and quicker on the ball and at the end of the day the best team did win, but we also played some great football in every area of the pitch. All I asked for was for each of our players to be able to say at the end of the game that they had played their best and given their all, and to a player, that is exactly what we got. True, we didn’t get the upset, but we were ever so close and the scoreline reflects that…”

  • The only team in action this weekend were the U18s, losing 4-1 at Abingdon United on Saturday. That was their opening league fixture in the Thames Valley Counties U18s North. Their scheduled fixture with Maidenhead last weekend was postponed. They are at home this Saturday to Charlbury Town in the league, KO 10:30 at Lane End FC.

The two adult teams were without a publicised fixture, the Seniors were due to play a friendly at Walton Casuals, but their league season started today, a 4-2 win at Comets, co-incidentally the Seniors' opponents in the FA Cup next Sunday. Development start their Southern Regional Division One season at Abbey Rangers on Sunday.

Some news on key departures from the Senior squad. Natalie "Rocky" Barette has retired from football and is playing rugby this season. Chante Inniss has joined Chesham United, goalkeeper Hannah Cox joined Abingdon United, and Alix Todd left during last season to concentrate on postgrad studies. Sam Jackson departed during pre-season.

  • Some disappointing news which I failed to spot earlier.

"It is with regret that the club has had to take the difficult decision to not run a development team this season. This is due to a lack of available players of the right ability levels to form a sustainable squad for the season. The club has every intention of recruiting in readiness for season 2021/22 for a team to fill the gap between first and under-18 teams and will be actively seeking players. Keep an eye out for news as the season progresses. ."

A match report from last Sunday's 2-1 FA Cup win, a game notable for the Chairgirls hitting the woodwork eight times, and for left back Emma Dean playing in goal, due to injuries and players self-isolating.

  • Tomorrow the Chairgirls continue their FA Cup run, away to Comets in the 1QR. The match is at Barn Elms Playing Fields, Barnes SW13 9SA, opposite the London Wetland Centre. They played there last season in the same round when they beat Regents Park Rangers 3-0. Kick-off is 2pm, spectators are allowed as things stand.

This morning the U18s lost 4-1 at home to Charlbury in the league.

  • Today's match against Comets has just been postponed, no surprise given the amount of rainfall. Rearranged date to be announced.

  • The Comets match has be rearranged for next Sunday. The winners will be away to Fulham Women on 18 October, a tier 5 side, same as the Chairgirls.

  • Tomorrow the U18s are away to Summertown Stars in the league, kick-off 10:30 at Cutteslowe Park, OX2 8LH.

The Seniors try again against the Comets in the FA Cup on Sunday, 2pm at Barn Elms, SW13 9SA.

The Chairgirls have been revealing the players' new sponsors this week, some are still available for sponsorship:

  • FT in FAC 1QR, Comets 0-1 Wycombe. No details yet.

  • edited October 2020

The goal was scored by Rae Roberts after 7 minutes, £400 earned in prize money. They face Fulham Women away on Sunday in the next round. They lost 3-1 at home to Dartford in the league today, and play at Fulham FC's Motspur Park training complex at New Malden.

Two other SRWFL sides played each other in the FA Cup today, AFC Bournemouth CST winning 4-3 on penalties at Moneyfields, last season's leaders, 1-1 at full-time.

On Saturday the U18s lost 5-3 at Summertown Stars, goals from Sally Grimm, Maddie Woods and an o.g.

  • Some player sponsorships are still available.

Good luck to Tara Woodward tomorrow who is doing her skydive for Mind, still time to sponsor her.

  • On Sunday the Chairgirls continue their FA Cup adventure, in the 2QR away to Fulham Women. The match is at their Motspur Park training complex at 2pm, behind closed doors. On their website, this fixture does say "FFC TV Listen to live audio commentary and watch video-on-demand" at the bottom, but I'm not sure that means for this match.

Fulham play at the same level as the Chairgirls, in the London & South East Regional Women's Football League Premier Division. So far in the FA Cup they have had a 2-1 win at Haringey Borough, and a 5-0 home win against Woodley United in the last round. In the league Fulham have won one and lost three.

No match report from last Sunday's FA Cup win has been published but I note from the line-up that striker Sam Jackson has returned and was one of the subs. Youth keeper Amy Whale also played.

The U18s are away to Chesham United tomorrow, 10:30am at Jenkins Lane, St Leonards, Tring HP23 6NW.

  • Correction, the Fulham game is being played at Imber Court, East Molesey, home of Metropolitan Police FC, behind closed doors.

  • HT Fulham 0-0 WW, both sides with chances but unable to get their shots on target, according to @FulhamFCFound.

  • FT FA Cup 2QR, Fulham 1-0 WW.

A 64th minute tap-in following a free kick. After that the Fulham keeper made two great saves, both times tipping the ball onto the crossbar.

Today's losing prize money of £100 takes the total won to £1160.

  • The other FA Cup ties today involving SRWFL sides saw Abingdon United lose 3-1 at home to Chesham United, and AFC Bournemouth CST gain a very impressive 3-1 win at higher ranked Southampton Women.

In the league, Woodley United won 6-2 at Newbury, Ascot United trounced Warsash Wasps 10-1 at home, and Moneyfields gained a narrow 1-0 home win against Winchester City Flyers.

Next Sunday the Seniors start their league campaign with a trip to Woodley United.

Yesterday the U18s had terrific 3-1 win away against Chesham United, who had scored 42 goals in their previous five matches. Goals from Amelia Gilbert (2) and Kate Davis.

  • After four FA Cup games, the Chairgirls play their opening league game on Sunday, away to Woodley United. Kick-off 2pm at UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, Woodlands Avenue, Woodley RG5 3HE. Spectators welcome.

As a form guide, Woodley lost 5-0 at Fulham in the FA Cup. Last Sunday they won 6-2 at Newbury in the league, after being 2-1 down at half-time.

The Chairgirls will be playing without Tara Woodward who, this week, announced her retirement from football, at least temporarily. Tara has been a prolific scorer for WWLFC and played a big part in the team's rise up a level. We wish her well for the future and hopefully we will see her in the Quarters once again soon. Tara's announcement on Twitter:

The U18s have no game tomorrow due to half-term.

  • Shame for Tara, she comes across as a lovely girl, I hope she can find help/happiness in her life and come back stronger... whether that's playing for Wycombe or not. All the best

  • FT Woodley 0-3 Wycombe.

Goals on 40, 48 and 61 minutes. No scorers as yet, Woodley had a player sent off after 28 minutes.

  • edited October 2020

Scorers were Sam Jackson, Steph Mobbs and Lindsay Parker. Unusual to see a red card in the game, on average two players are sent off in total each season, in this division.

Just two other games today due to postponements. Abingdon United beat Ascot United 3-0 at home, and AFC Bournemouth CST had a thumping 11-0 win at Oxford City, 6-0 at half-time. I sense a power shift away from Moneyfields to Bournemouth this season.

    https://fulltime-league.thefa.com/ProcessPublicSelect.do;jsessionid=E88C7A2245BB114343CC5B799BF56BF8?psSelectedSeason=638750146&psSelectedDivision=214989253&psSelectedCompetition=0&psSelectedLeague=479698

Next Sunday the Chairgirls host Newbury in the league at Flackwell.

One other recent departure to announce, midfielder Sarah Harrison has joined Denham United.

  • On Sunday Wycombe Ladies play their second league game of the season, at home to Newbury Ladies. Kick-off 2pm at Bucks College Group, Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath HP10 9HE.

Spectating arrangements will probably be watching from outside the cage, and leaving your contact details.

Last season, in January, the Chairgirls won 5-1 at Newbury in the Chairman's Cup, and 7-1 at home in the league. This season Newbury have lost 6-1 to Abingdon United and 6-2 to Woodley United, both at home. They also lost 6-0 at Abingdon United in the FA Women's Cup.

On Sunday at 14:30 the 2019-20 FAWC Final takes place at Wembley, Everton v Manchester City. It's live on BBC1 and BT Sport1.I don't understand why amateur women's leagues would ask their teams to play at the same time.

The U18s are at home tomorrow, to Maidenhead United U17 Ravens in the league, KO 10:30 at The Row, Lane End, HP14 3JU.

  • Although we are still awaiting clarification from the FA and the league, today will be the last chance to see the Chairgirls in action for four weeks or more.

I note that the U18s game at home to Maidenhead yesterday has been rearranged for today at 10:30, at Cox Green School.

  • HT Chairgirls 4-1 Newbury

  • FT Chairgirls 9-1 Newbury.

Scorers Katie Hudson, Steph Mobbs (3), Charlotte Parrett, Rae Roberts, Sam Jackson, Lindsay Pinker (2).

Hudson put the Chairgirls ahead in opening minutes, header from corner. Then a long period of dominence by Chairgirls, with some wasteful finishing, before Newbury equalised on the half hour with a low shot into the corner from the edge of the box. Three goals leading up to HT, and three just after, put the home side in complete control. Two late goals from Pinker finished it off, one a 25 yard belter. Credit to Newbury for sticking at it to the end.

  • That is a screamer.

  • That is indeed how to score a goal

  • The men don't seem to score many from outside the box these days, with the exception of JJ.
