  • I suspect we will succumb to a post cup defeat on Tuesday night against an inform Exeter. On this Sunday morning I feel the same as I did post play off final. That overwhelming feeling of what if. Man we were magnificent yesterday, I watched the game live on a stream and felt physically sick when that injury time goal went in, what an incredible performance. As so many have already said on here, mixed emotions of pride and pain. For me it's still too soon to rewatch the highlights but the rise the club is on at the moment on and off the pitch is superb and light years away from Torquay.

  • Ha I've never been able to bring myself to watch the highlights from Wembley. I feel a lot better about the defeat from yesterday. It was glorious. Massive what if though.

  • I thought I saw Bayo holding his hamstring at one point in the second half before he went off. Anyone else see the same? He has played far more minutes than I think was really expected at the start of the season but has become pivotal. Would be a major loss with the teams immediately above and below us coming up.

  • I hope our Follower from Erith got his ticket for the match. He has certainly had two very good rounds to watch in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Now will he see TH through to Wembley?.

  • Yes the TalkSport commentators thought Akinfenwa was injured, they said he appeared to be struggling with his hamstring before he came off and Ainsworth confirmed this in the post match interview.

  • Losing Akinfenwa and Paris could be a huge blow. Although if Hayes and Weston play like they did yesterday for the rest of the season, and with Saunders coming in...

  • We saw a side to Akinfenwa we'd not seen before - one amazing slide tackle stands out - I hope that wasn't what caused his injury. What an amazing day all round. Blackman will be gutted about his clearance but he made a couple of amazing saves and easily made up for it. Feeling a bit teary today, if I'm honest.

  • I know how you feel @Chris . Immediately after the game I felt as gutted as I did at Wembley, though there was less of the feeling that we'd thrown it away and the players had (to use the up-to-date phraseology of football folk) left absolutely nothing out on the pitch. Also the quality of the opposition (most of their team were either internationals or were established top-flight players) on paper should have had us for breakfast. Heroes to a man yesterday, backed a terrific vociferous away following.

  • Quote of the week from Spurs manager" I think we were a bit lucky". Er yes you sure were

That's very bad news. I would t mind seeing an alternative centre forward come in on loan if the funds are available.

  • Incredibly proud of the team, GA and the support (except the muppet with the smoke bomb).

The overall performance was superb, although I feel we were punished for a couple of very basic errors - the Pierre challenge (did he really expect to get away with it?), and a poor goal kick. I have no complaints about the 6 minutes additional time, 6 substitutions, an injury and a bit of time wasting from both sides at different times. A draw would have been great, but in the end Spurs had that bit extra to push themselves over the line.

After the match I walked down to Seven Sisters, and heard some fantastic comments from Spurs supporters. One said he was exhausted, it had been relentless.

Ths one has to rate up there with the best of WWFC memories including Middlebrough home and away (also lost to a very late goal). For me the performance outweighs any disappointment.

  • There's not many games you're willing the clock to run down so ferociously.
Time seemed to go a million times slower after Thompson's goal.

What about Thompson's goal though, incredible work from Weston, who has probably contributed a couple of good moments all season, but lashes an England international, and produces a sensational goal. And a terrific header too.

All made so much better by being so unexpected, and after our hopes had gone.

  • Dier must be the slowest player in the Premier, so it seemed strange he went to emergency full back.

  • i thought I smelled smoke but saw nowt was that lower tier shenanigans?

  • Best game of football I have ever seen. Yes the result was a disappointment but a replay or further cup run would play havoc with our league form considering the small squad. It was simply an epic, I am so so proud.

  • @Wendoverman some twat set off a flare. Believe he was escorted out but did not see

  • I personally think we would have won if spurs didn't have the strength they had on the bench.

  • @Wendoverman, yes it was in the lower tier.

  • @JohnnyAllAlone aha! Not their brains exploding then, sadly.

  • Assume we will get another fine from the FA.

  • How are Spurs allowed to have an away allocation of 3000 in a 90000 seater stadium?

  • I believe that's the rule in the PL - minimum 3000 to the away team, regardless of stadium capacity. I would presume that if TH play a home FA Cup tie at Wembley the allocation would have to be far higher.

  • @drcongo Pretty similar to how many tickets away fans get at Old Trafford, which isn't much smaller than Wembley.

  • The Premier League rules for away fans are 3,000 or 10% of ground capacity - whichever is SMALLER.

  • If Tottenham play at home in the fa cup they must give away fans 13,500 tickets - unless they can con everyone again by claiming they have a special case to lower allocation on "health and safety" grounds.

  • Will they be the "home team" in the semi final and final!!

  • Aren't Tottenham "Only" allowed to have the full capacity for a certain number of games per season, hence yesterday being nearer 70,000 than 90,000?

So most likely, any additional games, such as FA Cup games would be limited too?

The limit seems to be based on the premise that the FA are "looking out for local residents" who are suddenly flooded with 20+ events more than they normally are.

I wonder if it's the easy to recognise the difference between 70k and 90k fans!
