Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
As somebody who predicted 10th (like everyone else) I'll take a playoff spot
Re: Rumour Mill
Great statement of intent if we bring in a player of this (apparent) caliber. It is only January 8th, too!
If this means Joe Low is on his way out, he deserves our warmest thanks and well wishes. Not just for being such a brilliant defender, but he always comes across so well as a person - unsurprising for a Wycombe player, I know, but yet another we can be so proud to have seen in the quarters, and deserves a shot at the big time.
As for Kone, one area we perhaps do not compliment him enough in is how hard working he clearly is on the training ground and in the gym. We know he bulked up over the summer, but he also seems to have a laser focus when it comes to working on any weaknesses. I am not sure if anyone remembers, but there was a game early on this season where there was a bit of a consensus that Udoh had won the 9 shirt, and Kone was likely the #2 option. That now seems like three years ago, even though Udoh has been fantastic too!
Re: Rumour Mill
I may be naive in my thinking but MB saying he's not involved in player recruitment negotiations doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't been involved in the process of identifying potential targets.
I'd much rather our head coach focus on the players we have - tactics, line-ups, opposition analysis, training etc. - and leave contract negotiations to others.
Re: Rumour Mill
Think this means it's pretty obvious Joe is on his way, 2 new center backs. If we don't think we can get Taylor back then I'd still be looking to go for the Exeter lad on loan if we can
Re: Match Day Thread: Huddersfield
Fred could have done much better on the goal.
In the lead up to the corner when the ball goes wide he should have gotten tight much quicker and forced them backwards. He took an age to communicate with (I think) Low behind him to pick up the winger. In the end he leaves their player too much time on the ball, never closes him down and is then nowhere when the ball goes down the line. As a result Low is pulled out to the ball, leaving the near post exposed. We only avoid conceding then due to a good save. From the resulting corner Fred is again on his heels and does nothing to disrupt the shot.
These are quite small details and in both cases he probably couldn't have totally prevented the action. But he could have ensured they were performed under pressure, with less time and off balance. All of which could have prevented the goal.
We were moaning behind the goal (or at least I was) that he was far too slow to get out to challenge the ball in the build up to the corner. So it was all pretty obvious at the time.
Re: Sonny Bradley signs
My prediction is for Sonny to be a real star player in the second half of the season.
